Legacy Bugs

Legacy Bugs is a research-based Fabric mod that restores selected historical Minecraft bugs as accurately as possible.

Rather than simply imitating old glitches, each bug is researched from its original snapshot behavior, tested, and carefully reimplemented for modern Minecraft.

Historical Bugs

LB-001 — Grindstone Enchantment Merge Bug

Original snapshot: 24w11a

Restores the historical grindstone behavior where enchantments from compatible input items can be merged in ways that normally would not be possible.

Examples include:

  • Combining normally incompatible enchantments
  • Merging enchantments between items of the same type
  • Preserving the historical grindstone behavior from snapshot 24w11a

LB-002 — MC-271398 Crafting Result Bug

Original snapshot: 24w18a

Restores the crafting remainder bug from snapshot 24w18a.

When certain recipes are positioned away from the top-left of the crafting grid, remaining items can be returned to incorrect crafting-grid positions.

In-Game Configuration

Legacy Bugs includes an in-game configuration screen.

Default keybind:

The screen allows you to control:

  • Global Legacy Bugs toggle
  • LB-001 — Grindstone Enchantment Merge
  • LB-002 — Crafting Result Bug

Settings can also be controlled using commands:

/legacybugs disable

/legacybugs lb001 disable
/legacybugs lb002 enable

Configuration is saved automatically in:

config/legacy-bugs.json

Multiplayer

Legacy Bugs supports Fabric dedicated servers.

  • Server operators can modify Legacy Bugs settings
  • Non-operators can view the current settings but cannot modify them
  • Configuration changes are validated by the server
  • Commands on dedicated servers require operator/moderator permission

  • Mod Loader: Fabric
  • Fabric Loader: 0.19.3 or newer
  • Fabric API: Required

Legacy Bugs is intended for:

  • Historical Minecraft bug preservation

  • Controlled experimentation

Some restored bugs may provide unintended gameplay advantages. Please do not use them on multiplayer servers without permission from the server owner or administrators.

Legacy Bugs is not intended to be a hacked client or general-purpose cheat mod.
