Smooth Container is a lightweight mod that eliminates the frustrating lag spike when opening chests, hoppers, shulker boxes, and other containers. Instead of stuttering on open, the GUI renders instantly — making inventory management feel smooth and responsive.
📦 Installation
- Install the correct mod loader for your Minecraft version (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge).
- Place
smoothcontainer.jarinto your.minecraft/modsfolder. - Launch the game — no configuration or dependencies are required.
This mod is client-side only. It works perfectly on multiplayer servers even if the server does not have the mod installed.
✨ Features
- Instant container rendering — eliminates the 100–300ms freeze that normally occurs when opening inventories.
- Works with all vanilla containers — chests, hoppers, barrels, furnaces, shulker boxes, crafting tables, anvils, and more.
- Mod container support — compatible with most modded storage blocks that use standard GUI rendering.
- Lightweight — no config files, no performance overhead beyond the fix.
- Client-side only — works on any server without requiring server-side installation.

❓ FAQ
Does this need to be installed on the server?
No — this is a client-side only mod. It will work on any server regardless of server-side mods.
Is this compatible with Sodium / OptiFine / Iris?
Yes. Smooth Container only modifies the GUI opening process and does not touch rendering pipelines or shaders.
Does this affect gameplay or container mechanics?
No — it only changes how the GUI renders when opening a container. All item interactions and mechanics remain unchanged.
I found a bug or crash, where do I report it?
Please report issues on the GitHub issue tracker. Include your Minecraft version, mod loader, and a log file if possible.
