XPProtection
Chunk-based land protection, paid for with XP levels. No currency, no dependencies and no complicated setup: stand in a chunk, type /claim, and the land is yours.
Built for Paper.
Features
- Chunk claims with a single command:
/claim. - XP level cost that you can configure (4 levels by default). If the player does not have enough levels, no claim is created and nothing is deducted.
- Trusted players: the owner can grant or remove access for other players.
- 8 flags per claim to control PvP, mobs, explosions, fire, Elytra and entry.
- Real world protection: building, chests, furnaces, doors, buttons, levers, item frames, armor stands, buckets, boats and more.
- Full claim visualization with particles: outlines all of your connected chunks.
- Bedrock support:
/claim chunkshows the borders of the current chunk using fake blocks, which are visible through Geyser. - Enter and leave notice in the action bar, fully editable.
- Safe persistence: claims and flags are saved immediately and survive restarts and shutdowns.
- Configurable messages using MiniMessage formatting.
- No dependencies: it does not need Vault, an economy plugin or a database.

Permissions
| Permission | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
xpprotection.admin |
OP | Manage any claim, bypass all protections and use /claim reload. |
There is no permission to claim: any player can use /claim as long as they have enough XP levels.
Flags
| Flag | Default | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
entry |
true |
When false, players without access cannot enter the claim. |
elytra |
true |
When false, players without access cannot use Elytra inside the claim. |
mob-spawning |
true |
When false, no mobs spawn naturally, from spawners or from events. |
hostile-mobs |
true |
When false, hostile mobs do not spawn. |
passive-mobs |
true |
When false, passive mobs do not spawn. |
pvp |
false |
When true, players can damage each other inside the claim. |
explosions |
false |
When true, explosions can damage blocks in the claim. |
fire-spread |
false |
When true, fire can spread and burn blocks. |
Claiming a chunk does not turn off spawning, so animal and villager farms work from the start. Spawn eggs, commands and breeding are never blocked.
Installation
- Make sure you have a compatible Paper.
- Download
XPProtection.jarfrom the Versions tab. - Place it in your server's
plugins/folder. - Restart the server (do not use
/reload).
Configuration
plugins/XPProtection/config.yml:
claim:
# XP levels that each chunk costs
xp-level-cost: 4
messages:
prefix: "<gold>[XPProtection]</gold> "
enter-claim: "<gray>Tierra de <yellow>{owner}</yellow>.</gray>"
leave-claim: "<gray>Saliste de la tierra de <yellow>{owner}</yellow>.</gray>"
# ... and the rest of the messages
The default messages are written in Spanish. You can translate or restyle any of them in config.yml.
If a message is missing from the file, the plugin falls back to a built-in text and never errors.
After editing the file, run /claim reload.
Compatibility
| Platform | Paper |
| Minecraft version | 26.2 (Paper) |

FAQ
Do I get my XP back if I remove a claim?
No. /claim unclaim does not refund levels.
Can I change the cost?
Yes, with claim.xp-level-cost in config.yml, then /claim reload.
What happens to my claims when I update the plugin?
They are kept. They are stored in plugins/XPProtection/claims.yml.
Are administrators affected by the protections?
No. Anyone with xpprotection.admin can build, interact and enter in any claim.
How can I see where my land ends?
Use /claim view for the full outline.
Known limitations
- Pistons and liquids that cross the border between a claim and the outside are not blocked yet.
- There is no limit on the number of claims per player.
- There is no command to list all of your claims.
