Attribute Swap Restored
Attribute Swap Restored fixes attribute swapping on Minecraft 26.x Paper and Spigot servers. If hotbar swapping stopped working on your server, this brings it back. Drop it in and restart, there's nothing to set up.
What works again
- Axe damage with sword enchantments (Fire Aspect, Knockback, Sharpness)
- Mace, Breach, Density and Wind Burst swaps
- Spear reach and Lunge swaps
- Shield stun: break a shield with an axe and the next hit lands with full knockback
- Stun slam (axe into mace in the same tick)
- Offhand swaps and keeping your attack cooldown across a swap
Players don't need a client mod.
How it works
Paper blocks attribute swapping by default. The plugin turns Paper's own setting back off (in memory only; your config files aren't changed), so Minecraft handles combat exactly like it did before. On Spigot, swapping already works, so the plugin only adds the shield stun. Damage, items and enchantments are never touched.
Compatibility
- Paper and Spigot 26.1.2, 26.2, 26.3, Java 25
- Paper forks like Purpur should work too (not tested)
- Not for Folia or 1.21.x
- Tested with ViaVersion and Geyser
FAQ
Why doesn't attribute swapping work on my 26.x server? Most likely because the server runs Paper, which blocks it by default. This plugin turns it back on.
Is it a hack? No, it's vanilla Minecraft behavior that Paper turns off.
Config or commands? None. No telemetry or network requests either.
