Patina is a datapack that allows the player to quickly oxidize or remove oxidation from copper materials. Oxidize copper by dropping it into a bubble column! Remove patina by dropping it into a sulfur pool. Patina is a lifesaver for busy Minecrafters who don't have time for nature to do its thing!
Copper Oxidization:
Non-waxed copper blocks (even copper golem statues and lightning rods!) can be oxidized by being dropped into a bubble column. The oxygenated water will immediately corrode the block to its fully oxidized state. The effect is only triggered in bubble columns, but it does not matter if the column is rising or falling. Waxed blocks or non-corrodable items (such as copper tools and armor) will not be affected. Placing a copper block in a bubble column (and therefore disrupting the stream) will also have no effect.
Patina Removal:
Pickling (the chemistry term for removing an oxidized patina) can be accomplished by dropping non-waxed copper blocks into a sulfur pool. The block must be within the stream of bubbles directly above a potent sulfur block for the acid to properly remove the patina. If successful, the block will immediately be cleaned back to its pristine, non-corroded state. Waxed blocks or non-corrodable items (such as copper tools and armor) will not be affected. Placing a copper block in a sulfur pool (rather than dropping it) will also have no effect.
Custom sounds:
Each chemical process is accompanied by a unique sound to enhance the effect!
Custom Advancements:
Each process has it's own custom advancement to help indicate to the player how to make the chemistry work. Also a great way to earn a little XP!
This datapack was created with love by a busy Minecrafter who's favorite oxidization mods have failed to keep up with the latest versions of Minecraft. It's my first datapack and I had a lot of fun making it! I hope to keep up with new releases as time goes on, but I have no plans to backport to earlier versions.
Have fun!
