Singularity Shaders
Relativistic Celestial Visuals. Procedural Skies. Lightweight Performance.
Singularity is a performance-focused cinematic shaderpack built around deep-space astrophysics and atmospheric rendering. By utilizing a zero-shadow-overhead pipeline, procedural sky mathematics, and ACES Filmic color science, Singularity delivers rich cosmic visuals while maintaining exceptionally high framerates on budget hardware and modern systems alike.
Experience deep-space astrophotography in the Overworld, a volcanic ash ceiling in the Nether, and an active relativistic Kerr black hole in The End.
⚡ Architecture & Performance Design
Most traditional shaderpacks rely on heavy shadow-mapping passes that re-render scene geometry multiple times per frame, heavily penalizing lower-end GPUs, APUs, and laptops.
Singularity is built on a streamlined, lightweight pipeline:
- Zero Shadow Buffer Overhead: Bypasses secondary geometric shadow passes, cutting down scene draw calls and polygon throughput.
- Procedural Fullscreen Celestial Math: The black hole, relativistic jets, 3D space warping, Milky Way, and auroras render entirely on a single screen-space pass, introducing zero polygon or mesh overhead to chunk rendering.
- Smart Binary-Search SSR: Raymarches reflections on water and ice using an exponential stride, achieving crisp surface reflections with minimal sample counts.
- Early-Exit Surface Culling: Puddle ripple math and rain normal perturbations skip immediately on dry blocks, unexposed surfaces, and sub-zero biomes.
- Lightweight VRAM Footprint: Designed to run smoothly within constrained VRAM environments, including integrated graphics (Intel Iris Xe, AMD Radeon APUs, and Apple Silicon).
Core Features
The End: Relativistic Kerr Quasar & Gravitational Lensing
- Active Quasar Geometry: Features symmetrical Keplerian accretion wings, relativistic Doppler beaming, a razor-thin circular photon sphere, and collimated bipolar jets[cite: 1].
- Continuous 3D Space Warping: Built using Rodrigues' 3D rotation geometry to bend background stars physically, nebulae, and incoming light smoothly around the singularity without screen-space clipping or planar seams.
- Equatorial Void Auroras: Multi-layered neon cyan, hot pink, and deep violet auroral curtains anchored along the world's horizon, spiraling downward as they enter the gravitational well.
- Isolated Event Horizon: An absolute pitch-black void core cutting cleanly through foreground volumetric effects[cite: 1].
The Overworld: True Astrophotography & Fluid Dynamics
- Deep-Sky Astrophotography: Procedurally generated Milky Way galactic core, interstellar dark dust rifts, Andromeda Galaxy (M31), Pleiades cluster (Seven Sisters), and random meteor showers[cite: 1].
- Procedural Lunar Surface: High-resolution lunar Maria basins, Tycho crater ray systems, and spherical limb darkening[cite: 1].
- Atmospheric Scattering & Optics: Rayleigh day/night sky gradients, dynamic airglow rings, persistent wide-angle godrays, and multi-stage lens flares[cite: 1].
- Dynamic Fluid Physics: Multi-octave directional ocean waves, Beer-Lambert water light absorption, underwater optical refraction, and procedural raindrop ripples[cite: 1].
- Rain Puddle Accumulation: Real-time water accumulation on sky-exposed flat surfaces with dynamic specular glints and darkening wet-albedo effects.
The Nether: Convective Volcanic Ceiling
- Zero Daylight Bleed: Eliminates vanilla sun, moon, star, and Overworld daylight bleed on the Nether roof above bedrock (Y=128).
- Volcanic Atmosphere: Bilayered churning volcanic smoke, convective ash clouds, and glowing thermal magma fissures.
- Biome-Matched Fog Anchor: Blends upper-void colors seamlessly into native Nether fog palettes without hard cutoff seams.
Surface Shading, Foliage Physics & Post-Processing
- ACES Filmic Tonemapping: High-dynamic-range color compression curve preventing blown-out highlights or bleached torchlight.
- Elastic Wind & Foliage Physics: Root-anchored grass sway, vertical sag, volumetric 3D canopy breathing, and top-anchored pendulum-swinging vines.
- Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO): 16-sample golden-angle spiral ambient occlusion providing contact shadows in crevices and voxel corners[cite: 1].
- Screen-Space Reflections (SSR): Exponential-step ray-traced reflections on water, ice, and wet rain puddles with full-space sky fallbacks[cite: 1].
- Dynamic Handheld Lighting: Real-time forward point-light illumination from held torches and lanterns.
- Camera Optics: Velocity-vector camera motion blur, smooth eye adaptation pupil dilation, and optical vignette.
Built-In Quality Profiles
Configure Singularity to match your hardware through the in-game shader settings menu:
- Cinematic (Default): Full-space 96-step SSR, maximum SSAO, dramatic eye adaptation, full camera motion blur, and filmic vignette.
- High: Full-space SSR, balanced SSAO, cinematic eye adaptation, and medium motion blur.
- Medium: Fast screen-space reflections, lightweight SSAO, and medium motion blur.
- Low (Performance Mode): Fast screen-space reflections, SSAO disabled, motion blur disabled, vignette disabled—optimized for maximum framerates on integrated graphics and budget systems.
