Complicated Survival
Ever played Minecraft and thought the progression was a little too simple? Too linear? Too peaceful?
Well, not anymore.
Complicated Survival takes the usual Minecraft progression and turns it into something much more challenging. Whether that's an improvement or a terrible idea is for you to decide!
Inspired by BTW (Better Than Wolves) and MITE (Minecraft Is Too Easy), this modpack is designed for players who enjoy survival challenges, tougher progression, and having to think twice before doing something that vanilla Minecraft lets you do without a second thought.
If you're looking for a relaxed survival experience, you might want to reconsider. You've been warned.
What's different?
🪓 Want to punch a tree for wood? Too bad. You'll need proper tools for anything excluding things like dirt and similar things.
🌡️ Want to explore the world? Watch your thirst and body temperature. Neglect either, and your adventure might turn you into Christmas Turkey cooked over burning coal on a winter night, served to any of the undead mobs during the night (I mean, you die).
🌱 Want to grow crops? Seasons exist, and they somewhat matter.
🥩 Want to live entirely on meat? Everything that is edible MUST be eaten, well not evrything, but, eh check Nutrition Tab in your inventory. You will understand once you see it.
📦 Want to stockpile food? Food spoils over time! Store it wisely:
- Shulker boxes prevent food from spoiling.
- Barrels and Netherite-tier backpacks offer the slowest spoilage rates.
- Copper, Iron, Gold and Diamond backpacks offer progressively slower spoil rates.
- Leather backpacks and chests share the same spoilage rate.
⚔️ Want to fight mobs? Even ordinary enemies can be dangerous because limb damage exists. Mobs can spawn with rusted iron equipment capable of outright obliterating you. Don't assume you're safe just because you're still in the early game.
🐉 Want to reach the End? Forget searching for strongholds. They don't exist!
Instead, you'll need to craft End Portal Frames yourself. You can even retrieve Eyes of Ender from portal frames using a pole and carry the frames with you. Just don't expect to break them normally! (You can't break them, but you can carry them if placed. I might need to work on that later)
But survival isn't all suffering...
Despite the harsh rules, you aren't completely helpless. The modpack also gives you tools to make life easier—provided you're willing to work for them.
- Create lets you automate repetitive tasks and build increasingly complex machinery.
- Butcher helps you obtain larger quantities of meat.
- Farmer's Delight expands your cooking options with a wide variety of food.
- Biomes O' Plenty adds new biomes to explore.
- Carry On lets you pick up and move certain mobs and blocks, including chests, barrels, crafting tables, furnaces, and even End Portal Frames (this is the only block I'd allow since you can't break them yet).
Armor, Weapons and stuff
There's more armors, weapons, amulets and things than you can count.
Boss
The main bosses like the Ender Dragon and the Wither, have a lot of health. Also the wither is modded to be like Bedrock Edition (Java wither too weak for my kindness).
That's enough spoilers! Enjoy (or play something else maybe idk).
System requirements
- Recommended RAM allocation: 6 GB (6144 MB)
- Minimum RAM allocation: 3 GB (3072 MB)
The minimum was tested with a friend using a low-end PC, so even a potato can join the adventure. Performance will still depend on your hardware and the other mods you're running.
A note about the custom code
Some of the datapacks and CraftTweaker scripts in this modpack were created with help from AI.
Think of it this way: I know what I want to make and how to even make it, but have no java syntax knowledge or know it properly enough. Thats where AI cane in help.
I'm not a ZenScript expert or a datapack wizard, plz don't bully meh. The goal is to create a fun survival experience, also this was a side project and I am no Professional programmer. I'm just a regular guy. Also the current bronze mixture recipe is kinda bugged, im working on a fix for it.

QUMA (Questions You Might Ask)
Q. Will ther be a fabric version ?
Ans: If these mods get approved you will get a Fabric version: (yes these have MIT or GPL 3.0 licenses so im respecting the original mod authors licenses here, hopefully, idk no legal expert. No beef plz.)

Q. Will these modpack support older or later versions ?
Ans: I do not have that much steam. Like I said, this is a side project, though it took me 10 months to bring it to this. But if you wanna make one, go ahead. Be sure to credit the original modpack creator (me) and the acknowledge everyones lisences like I did.
Q. Can I use your datapacks or ZenScript?
Ans: Sure, go ahead! Be sure to read LICENSE.txt and LICENSE-NOTICE.txt, though. And don't forget to give credit.
Q. Why are there two different versions ?
Ans. One is the potato version (all the forge modpack versions with 1.0.5x I mean), and the other forge ones are, for people who can use them.
