Bat & Bloom

Bat & Bloom transforms Minecraft’s bats from ambient cave creatures into active participants in the world’s ecology.

Bats now live in persistent colonies, sheltering in natural Bat Roosts or player-built Bat Boxes during the day. At dusk, colonies emerge in loose flocks to search for crops, empty farmland, and flowers. Well-fed bats support nearby farms, drive away spiders, and return home carrying useful guano.

What’s in the mod?

• Live bat colonies with flocking, breeding, shared food locations, and day/night routines
• Naturally generated Bat Roosts found around suitable cave entrances
• Craftable Bat Boxes that can gradually attract bats when placed near farmland
• Bats that fertilise crops and occasionally introduce wheat, carrots, potatoes, or beetroot to empty farmland
• Guano layers that accumulate beneath colonies and can be sustainably harvested
• Guano uses including fertiliser, brown dye, guano blocks, gunpowder, and Mushroom Farms
• Expanded crop lifecycles with flowering bolted crops, improved pre-bolt harvests, natural spreading, and decorative growth-stage freezing with shears
• Cultivatable Mushroom Farms for mushrooms, fungi, glow lichen, dyes, roots, glow ink sacs, and other useful materials
• Reduced hostile spawning around active colonies, including protection from phantoms
• Spiders now avoid bat colonies rather than hunting them

Bat & Bloom is designed around ecological feedback loops. Players benefit most by providing bats with suitable homes, food, and habitat—but removing too much guano can destroy the colony that produced it.

The result is a more active farming and cave ecosystem where conservation offers practical rewards, bats fill the night sky, and small, carefully maintained farms become more valuable.
