Stop crawling up ladders.
Ladder Sense makes vertical travel respond to where you're looking — glance up to climb faster, look down to descend quicker, and keep things at vanilla speed when you're looking level. No new blocks, no new keybinds, no progression to grind. Hop on a ladder, look up, and you'll get it instantly.
🪜 Works on everything climbable
- Ladders
- Chains — iron and every copper variant (should be in vanilla)
- Vines, cave vines, twisting vines, and weeping vines
- Scaffolding — jump to rise, sneak to drop, both scaled by your look
- Any modded block tagged climbable
⚙️ Configurable to taste
Tune it in config/ladder-sense.json:
- Max ascent / descent multipliers
- Dead-zone size and ramp curve (
LINEAR,SMOOTH,AGGRESSIVE) - Toggle scaffolding support
- Accessibility: fixed speed tiers (no acceleration) and an absolute speed cap
- Or flip
enabledoff entirely
🌐 Multiplayer & compatibility
- Fabric + Fabric API.
- Install on the server for consistent, fair speeds across everyone; works great in single-player too.
- Lightweight and physics-only — plays nicely with performance mods.
⚠️ Use responsibly
Ladder Sense changes how fast you move on climbable blocks. On servers that don't have the mod installed — or that run anti-cheat — this faster movement can be detected as cheating and may cause rubber-banding, kicks, or bans.
Only use it on servers where it's installed or where the operator has given you the OK. This is a single-player and opt-in/server-supported feature first. The author takes no responsibility for any consequences — bans, kicks, or otherwise — from using it on servers that don't support or permit it.
