Fireroof
A Paper, Spigot, and Bukkit plugin for Minecraft 1.16 - 26.3 that creates a fiery particle roof above players who cross configured height thresholds in the Overworld or Nether.
What is it
Fireroof adds a dynamic fire-like particle effect above players who exceed certain Y-levels in the Overworld or the Nether. Each dimension has its own height threshold, so the effect can be tuned separately for normal survival worlds and for Nether builds.
The plugin is intended for aesthetic effects, danger indicators, or custom map design. It does not add commands, permissions, or gameplay mechanics beyond the particle roof. Particles are spawned only when a player is above the configured threshold, so the plugin stays lightweight on servers with many players.
Configuration is limited to config.yml. The default values set the Nether threshold to 128 and the Overworld threshold to -65. Change these values to match your world layout.
Features
- Shows a fire-like particle roof above players who exceed the configured Y-level in the current dimension.
- Uses separate height thresholds for the Overworld and the Nether.
- Runs automatically after installation, with no commands or permission nodes.
- Spawns particles only when a player is above the relevant threshold.
- Configures through a small
config.ymlfile.
Installation
- Download the Fireroof
1.0.0JAR. - Place the JAR in your server's
pluginsfolder. - Restart the server or load the plugin with a plugin manager.
- Edit
plugins/Fireroof/config.ymlto set the height thresholds. - Restart the server again if you change the configuration after the first load.
No additional dependencies are required.
Usage
Fireroof has no commands. After installation, the particle roof appears automatically for players who cross the configured height thresholds. The effect is client-side particles and does not change blocks, damage players, or alter world data.
To adjust when the effect appears, change nether-burn-height or overworld-burn-height in config.yml. Values are Y coordinates. A player must be above the configured value in the matching dimension for the roof effect to appear.
Configuration
The plugin generates plugins/Fireroof/config.yml with the following settings:
nether-burn-height: 128
overworld-burn-height: -65
nether-burn-height sets the Y-level threshold in the Nether. overworld-burn-height sets the Y-level threshold in the Overworld. Players above the threshold in the matching dimension see the fiery particle roof. Lower values make the effect appear at lower altitudes; higher values restrict it to higher altitudes.
