The Lotus Atoll
The Lotus Atoll is a fishing-focused Minecraft mod that expands the vanilla fishing experience with new fishing rods, bait, enchantments, sea creatures, biomes, fishing hotspots, passive fishing nets, and underwater mechanics.
Built around the idea of keeping the vanilla Minecraft feel, The Lotus Atoll adds depth and progression to fishing without turning it into an entirely different game. Whether you enjoy relaxing beside a river, hunting for rare creatures, building farms, exploring underwater environments, or simply collecting everything the mod has to offer, there is something waiting beneath the surface.
Fishing
Fishing is no longer as simple as throwing a line into the water and waiting.
Fishing now requires bait, giving you a reason to prepare before every fishing trip. Only one type of bait can be active at a time, and bait is consumed when you successfully fish.
When you cast your rod, a timer appears above the fishing bobber, allowing you to see how long your current cast has been active. Once something bites, reel it in and discover what you've caught.
There is also a 5% chance to fish up a live animal from the sea creature list when fishing. Instead of receiving a normal fishing reward, you could suddenly find yourself pulling an actual creature out of the water.
Rods
The vanilla fishing rod has been removed and replaced with a complete progression of fishing rods.
Players can work their way through seven different tiers:
- Wooden Fishing Rod
- Stone Fishing Rod
- Copper Fishing Rod
- Iron Fishing Rod
- Gold Fishing Rod
- Diamond Fishing Rod
- Netherite Fishing Rod
Each material provides another step in your fishing progression, giving you a reason to upgrade your equipment as you advance through the game.
From a simple wooden rod at the beginning of your world to a powerful Netherite Fishing Rod for late-game anglers, fishing now has its own equipment progression.
Hotspots
Not every fishing location is equal.
Fishing Hotspots are special areas where fishing becomes faster and more rewarding. Finding a hotspot can greatly improve your fishing efficiency, making exploration worthwhile for dedicated anglers.
Hotspots provide:
- Faster fishing speed
- A multiplier to rewards
- More efficient fishing sessions
- A reason to explore for better fishing locations
Instead of settling down beside the nearest pond and fishing forever, you can search the world for better locations and make the most of your time.
Nets
If active fishing isn't your thing, Fishing Nets provide a completely different way to gather fishing rewards.
Nets are designed for passive and AFK fishing, making them particularly useful for players who want to create fishing farms. Place your nets in suitable locations and let them work while you focus on other things.
They provide an excellent alternative to actively holding a fishing rod and waiting for individual catches, especially when building larger-scale farms.
Bait
Every fishing trip requires bait.
Bait gives players control over how they approach fishing, allowing you to prioritise speed, sea creatures, daytime fishing, nighttime fishing, or unusual effects.
Only one bait can be active at a time, and the bait is consumed when you fish successfully.
Worm Membrane
Worm Membrane is the basic material used to create bait.
It can be obtained by using a composter, making it an accessible resource with very low requirements. This means that even early-game players can get started with the mod's bait system without needing rare resources.
Minnow Bait
Minnow Bait increases fishing speed by 1.5×.
A straightforward choice for anglers who want to catch things faster without changing their chances of encountering sea creatures.
Worm Bait
Worm Bait increases fishing speed by 2×.
If speed is your priority, Worm Bait provides a substantial boost and is ideal for players who want to maximise the number of casts they can make over time.
Light Bait
Light Bait provides +25% Sea Creature Chance (SCC) during the day.
It is designed specifically for daytime fishing and gives players an incentive to choose their bait according to the time of day.
Dark Bait
Dark Bait provides +25% Sea Creature Chance during the night.
Head out after sunset, equip your Dark Bait, and increase your chances of finding something unusual beneath the surface.
Spiked Bait
Spiked Bait provides +10% Sea Creature Chance.
A simple and reliable option for players who want a general increase in their chances of encountering sea creatures.
Carrot Bait
Carrot Bait completely changes the result of a sea creature catch.
Whenever you would catch a sea creature, there is a 100% chance that it will instead be a random farm animal.
Perfect for players who want to turn fishing into an unconventional source of livestock.
Corrupt Bait
Corrupt Bait introduces the possibility of catching multiple creatures of the same type at once.
Rather than receiving a single creature, you have a chance to bring in multiple copies of your catch, making Corrupt Bait particularly useful when hunting for specific creatures.
Sea Creatures
The Lotus Atoll introduces a large collection of sea creatures that can be encountered while fishing.
Your Sea Creature Chance (SCC) determines your chances of encountering these creatures. Bait and enchantments can be used to increase your SCC, allowing you to create specialised fishing setups focused on finding rare and dangerous creatures.
Some creatures are completely ordinary, while others are enormous, armoured, heavily equipped, or simply very strange.

Frogman
A strange frog-themed underwater creature wearing copper and diamond armour.
The Frogman has a frog-like face and high armour, making it one of the most unusual creatures you can encounter while fishing.
Pressure
The Lotus Atoll introduces a new Pressure System for underwater exploration.
The deeper you travel, the more dangerous the water becomes.
Drowning happens faster the further down you are on the Y level.
This makes deep underwater exploration significantly more dangerous than simply managing your normal air supply. Players travelling into the depths will need to consider their equipment and plan their dives carefully.
The deeper you go, the more important proper preparation becomes.
Pressure Resistance
Pressure Resistance is a helmet enchantment designed to help with the new underwater pressure system.
Each level reduces how quickly you lose pressure, allowing you to remain underwater for longer periods of time and making deeper exploration considerably safer.
- Maximum Level: IV
- Applies to: Helmet
For players who regularly explore deep underwater areas, Pressure Resistance can become an essential part of their equipment.
Enchantments
The Lotus Atoll introduces several new enchantments, each designed to give players additional ways to customise their equipment.
Shallow
Shallow reduces your Sea Creature Chance by 1% per level.
- Maximum Level: V
- Applies to: Fishing Rod
This enchantment is useful for players who would rather focus on normal fishing rewards instead of encountering sea creatures.
Angler
Angler increases your Sea Creature Chance by 5% per level.
- Maximum Level: IV
- Applies to: Fishing Rod
Angler is the ideal enchantment for players who want to specialise in finding sea creatures.
Sweep
Sweep is a utility enchantment that can be applied to an axe.
Right-clicking with a Sweep-enchanted axe or hoe allows you to clear multiple logs or leaves at once.
- Maximum Level: III
- Applies to: Axe
It is especially useful when clearing forests, preparing building areas, or gathering large amounts of wood and leaves.
Magnet
Magnet increases the amount of experience gained while fishing.
- Applies to: Fishing Rod
A useful enchantment for players who want their fishing sessions to contribute more towards their experience levels.
Caster
Caster gives you a chance to use bait without consuming it.
Each level provides a 5% chance for your bait to be used without being consumed.
- Maximum Level: V
- Applies to: Fishing Rod
At maximum level, Caster gives you a substantial chance to preserve your bait, making it particularly useful during long fishing sessions.
Pressure Resistance
Pressure Resistance reduces the rate at which underwater pressure is lost.
- Maximum Level: IV
- Applies to: Helmet
Combine it with your other underwater equipment to make deep exploration safer and more practical.
Lotus Atoll
The Lotus Atoll is a brand-new biome added by the mod.
It features its own unique environment, including distinctive Lotus Trees and a variety of wildlife. The biome is home to creatures such as frogs, parrots, and other mobs, giving it a lively atmosphere both above and below the water.
The Lotus Atoll isn't simply a place to fish. It is an area designed to explore, build in, and make your own.
Set up a fishing base among the Lotus Trees, establish fishing nets along the coastline, search the surrounding waters for hotspots, or simply explore the biome and see what you can find.
Exploration
The Lotus Atoll encourages players to explore both above and below the surface.
On land, the biome provides new scenery and wildlife. Beneath the water, the Pressure System makes depth itself a gameplay mechanic, while fishing hotspots and sea creatures give you reasons to investigate different bodies of water.
The deeper you go, the more prepared you need to be.
Bring the right bait, use the right rod, enchant your equipment, and keep an eye on your pressure before venturing too far into the depths.
Progression
The mod provides a natural progression for players who want to specialise in fishing.
Begin with a Wooden Fishing Rod, produce basic bait using easily obtainable Worm Membrane, and start exploring nearby waters.
As you progress through the game, upgrade your rod through Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and eventually Netherite.
Along the way, collect and apply powerful enchantments, discover better fishing hotspots, experiment with different bait types, and build Fishing Nets for passive production.
Eventually, you can create highly specialised fishing setups designed around exactly what you want to catch.
Vanilla Feel
Despite adding a large number of new mechanics, The Lotus Atoll is designed to retain the familiar feeling of Minecraft.
The systems are built around mechanics players already understand: fishing rods, enchantments, bait, biomes, mobs, exploration, farming, and progression.
Nothing is intended to completely replace the vanilla experience. Instead, the mod expands on one of Minecraft's quieter activities and gives fishing a reason to remain useful throughout your entire world.
Build Your Setup
There is no single way to play The Lotus Atoll.
Want to catch things as quickly as possible? Use Worm Bait or Minnow Bait.
Want to find sea creatures? Increase your SCC with Angler, Spiked Bait, or the appropriate time-based bait.
Want to fish at night? Dark Bait is built for you.
Want to collect farm animals? Use Carrot Bait.
Want multiple copies of your catches? Try Corrupt Bait.
Want to fish while doing something else? Build Fishing Nets.

The choice is yours.
The Catch
From ordinary cod and salmon to giant fish, underwater monsters, armoured Frogmen, and bizarre Snow Golems, you never quite know what is waiting beneath the surface.
Find a hotspot, choose your bait, cast your upgraded fishing rod, and watch the timer above your bobber.
You could catch something completely ordinary.
You could find something rare.
Or you could pull something out of the water that absolutely should not be there.
The Lotus Atoll brings fishing to life while keeping the spirit of vanilla Minecraft intact.
Cast your line. Explore the depths. Discover what lies beneath.
