💬 MSG Chat

MSG Chat is a customizable client-side private messaging HUD for Minecraft Fabric.

It separates private messages from the normal Minecraft chat and displays them in a dedicated messenger-style HUD.

MSG Chat supports many common private-message formats automatically and can also be configured manually for servers using their own messaging format.

🌐 Server Compatibility

MSG Chat automatically recognizes many common private-message formats used by Minecraft servers, including formats based on:

• /msg
• /tell
• /w
• PM / DM messages
• From / To formats
• Whisper / Tell formats
• →, -> and » message styles

Custom server formats

Does your server use its own private-message format?

No problem.

MSG Chat includes a Server Compatibility menu where you can configure:

• Incoming message format
• Outgoing message format
• Reply command

Custom formats use simple placeholders:

{player} — Player name
{message} — Message content

Example:

<MSG> {player} » Dir: {message}

Reply command example:

msg {player} {message}

This makes MSG Chat adaptable to many servers and custom messaging plugins.

🎮 How to use

Press N to open the MSG Chat menu.

When a supported private message is received, MSG Chat automatically creates a separate conversation for that player.

Press T while a private conversation is selected to immediately start typing a private reply.

Click the normal Minecraft chat input to switch back to public chat.

Click the MSG Chat input to switch back to the private conversation.

🖥️ Client-side

The Minecraft server does not need MSG Chat installed.
