This is an official reforge of the mod "You die you lose a Heart" by the user Mars.

Note: This mod is to be used with normal Minecraft worlds. It's not compatible with acctual Hardcore worlds.

When you die you lose a heart. With no hearts left you will switch to spectator mode. This is similar to hardcore difficulty in Minecraft but less severe. You can also restore hearts by eating enchanted golden apples.

Features:

  • You lose 1 heart when you die in survival or adventure mode
  • You gain 1 heart when you eat an enchanted golden apple
  • Optional: normal golden apples restore lost hearts, up to 10 hearts
  • Optional: set a minimum amount of hearts, players then never become spectators
  • Configure the maximum hearts a player can have
  • Chat messages when you lose or gain a heart, and a message to everyone when a player loses their last heart
  • View and set the hearts of players via command
  • Everything is set via gamerules, there is no config file

Gamerules: The names depend on your Minecraft version: up to 1.21.10 the first name applies, from 1.21.11 on the second.

  • maxHearts / max_hearts (default 20): maximum amount of hearts
  • canRestoreHearts / can_restore_hearts (default true): main switch, when false no apple restores hearts
  • minHearts / min_hearts (default 0): minimum amount of hearts, 0 means you become a spectator when you lose your last heart
  • goldenAppleRestoresHearts / golden_apple_restores_hearts (default false): normal golden apples also restore lost hearts, up to 10 hearts

Commands (OP level 2):

  • /playerhearts get [<targets>]: show the current hearts of players
  • /playerhearts set <numberHearts> [<targets>]: set the current hearts of players
  • /playerhearts <numberHearts> [<targets>]: short form of set

Version 1.1.0: minHearts, goldenAppleRestoresHearts, the chat messages and /playerhearts get and set need version 1.1.0. Minecraft 1.21.6 to 1.21.10 and NeoForge on 1.21.11 stay on version 1.0.x and don't have these features. On Minecraft 1.19.2 the chat messages are English only.

You lose a heart when you die.

You can gain hearts by eating enchanted golden apples.
