Drive By Power
Wireless FE power links for Sable sub-levels (Create Aeronautics) and beyond. Connect any Forge Energy source to any FE accepting machine with invisible cables that work across moving contraptions, airships, and the world below them.

What it does
Drive By Power lets you wire up FE power without running physical cable blocks through your build. You select a source machine with a Power Cable, then click any target and energy flows. The connection is invisible in world, persists through saves, and crucially, survives Sable sub-level assembly, so cables stay intact when your contraption picks up, moves, or lands.
This is the energy system equivalent of Drive By Wire (which inspired this mod), except instead of routing redstone, you're routing FE.
Features
- Invisible point to point FE links between any block exposing the Forge Energy capability: generators, batteries, machines from any FE compatible mod
- Cross sub-level transfer: power a contraption from a stationary generator on the ground, or have one ship power another mid flight
- Sable-aware: connections are automatically remapped when blocks are assembled into a contraption or moved between sub-levels, so your wiring doesn't break when your airship takes off
- Configurable transfer rate: set the maximum FE moved per connection per tick in the config (default 1024 FE/t)
- Power Cable Cutter: single click on any source block strips all of its outgoing connections
- Visual feedback: hold a Power Cable or Cutter to see selected sources, connected sinks, and wire paths overlaid in-world
- Create Goggles Network Analysis: view the connections on one single point and the amount of FE going in or out in real time, with lines leading to the source/sink connected
- Lightweight: no GUI, no block entities, no custom rendering for cables; the entire system is metadata stored on the level
Why?
If you've ever tried to build a powered Create: Aeronautics airship, a mobile factory, or any contraption that needs energy while it moves, you know the problem: physical FE cable blocks don't play nicely with assembled structures, and rebuilding the wiring is miserable. Drive By Power skips the problem entirely because connections are logical, not physical, so they don't care whether the source and sink share a sub-level.
It's also genuinely useful for small builds where you just want one generator feeding three machines without running pipes/cables between them.
