Lingering Loot
A datapack that gives you time to get back to your stuff.
Introduction
Vanilla gives you five minutes to run back to where you died. This datapack gives you as long as you want, as well as protecting your items from lava, TNT, etc!
| Vanilla | Lingering Loot | |
|---|---|---|
| Death drops last | 5 minutes | 1 - 1,789,569 minutes, or forever |
| Fire, lava, explosions, cacti | Destroy them | Safe |
What's different
- Only the items you dropped when you died linger. Anything else on the ground despawns after the default 5 minutes.
- The time only runs while the chunk is loaded, exactly like vanilla despawning.
- Everybody's drops are tracked separately, so one player dying does not reset anybody else's timer.
Installation
- Download the release
.zip. - Drop it into
<world>/datapacks/. /reload, or load the world.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/function ll:set_despawn_time {minutes:60} |
How long death drops last. Default 60, maximum 1789569. Use 0 to make them never despawn. Survives reloads and restarts. |
/function ll:set_invulnerable {enabled:false} |
Whether death survive fire, lava, explosions and cacti. Default true. |
/function ll:uninstall |
Returns every dropped item to normal and removes all traces of the pack. Run this before deleting the pack. |
[!NOTE]
set_despawn_timeapplies to deaths from that point on. Loot already lying on the ground keeps the timer it was dropped with.
[!IMPORTANT] Lingering loot is held in place by freezing its despawn timer, so it needs the pack to reset it. Run
/function ll:uninstalland stand near/load any items on the ground from this pack to prevent them from never despawning.
