Titanium
Titanium is a client-side Fabric optimization mod designed to reduce unnecessary rendering workload through configurable entity, block entity, and particle culling.
Features
- Entity Culling: Skips rendering selected entities outside the camera's viewing frustum or beyond configurable distance limits.
- Block Entity Culling: Reduces unnecessary rendering of supported block entities, including chests, hoppers, shulkers, signs, banners, beacons, and bells.
- Particle Culling: Provides configurable particle distance and visibility-based culling.
- Dynamic Distance Scaling: Monitors average frame performance over a rolling 60-frame window and dynamically adjusts rendering distances according to the configured FPS target.
- Performance Presets: Provides configurable optimization presets and individual rendering controls.
- Sodium Integration: Integrates configuration options into Sodium's settings interface.
How It Works
Titanium uses Fabric's client-side initialization and SpongePowered Mixin to integrate with Minecraft's rendering pipeline.
Its culling engine evaluates rendering candidates using camera distance calculations and frustum visibility checks. Bounding boxes are tested against the camera's viewing frustum to determine whether an object is potentially visible.
For entities and supported block entities that fail the configured visibility or distance checks, Titanium cancels their rendering operation before the normal rendering process continues.
The dynamic scaling system records frame durations using a rolling 60-frame sample window. It calculates average FPS and adjusts the effective rendering distance when performance falls below or rises above the configured target.
Configuration is stored in a JSON file and can be modified through Sodium's options interface.
Required
- Fabric Loader
- Sodium
Titanium is designed as a companion to Sodium and includes compatibility checks for several other rendering optimization mods.
Important
Actual performance improvements depend on hardware, world complexity, entity counts, particle density, graphics settings, and installed mods. Titanium does not guarantee a fixed FPS increase on every system.
