Magic Mining Laser

Bring industrial-scale precision mining to your Fabric world with a fuel-powered, redstone-controlled mining laser turret.
Features
- Two-block laser structure with a detailed rotating gimbal and visible cubical energy beam.
- Automatic mining when powered by redstone.
- Default fuel support for coal, charcoal, coal blocks, blaze rods, and lava buckets.
- Fully configurable fuel list and burn times.
- Omnidirectional automatic aiming: north, south, east, west, up, and down.
- Mount the laser as a turret: the gimbal, beam, and mining ray follow the player's exact aim.
- Player stays seated behind the laser while operating the mounted turret.
- Beam damages entities in its path.
- Tinted and stained glass can change the beam colour.
- Internal item storage for mined drops.
Upgrades
Each upgrade bay accepts up to three matching upgrades:
- Tunnel Width Upgrade — starts at a 1×1 tunnel and expands the mining cross-section.
- Laser Speed Upgrade — reduces the delay between mining slices.
- Laser Storage Upgrade — expands internal storage from 9 to 18 to 27 slots.
- Laser Length Upgrade — adds 16 blocks of range per upgrade.
Controls
- Use the laser normally to open its control console.
- Use the six direction buttons or sneak-use while holding an item to set automatic direction.
- Sneak-use with an empty hand, then release sneak, to mount the turret.
- Press L while mounted or while looking at a nearby laser to enable/disable it. The keybind can be changed in Controls → Magic Mining Laser.
Configuration
config/magicminiglasermod.json is created on first launch.
- Configure accepted fuel items and their burn durations.
- Adjust base laser range and entity damage.
- Enable optional bedrock resource generation with
generateAtBedrock(disabled by default). When enabled, a laser aimed at bedrock copies the item in its material slot into internal storage.
Requires Fabric API and Minecraft 1.21.1.
