Auto Miner
Auto Miner is a vanilla-friendly automation mod built around ordinary Minecraft tools.
Rather than introducing electricity, generators, fuel or a complicated technology system, Auto Miner uses familiar Minecraft mechanics: give an Auto Miner the appropriate tool and let the tool do the work.
Build automatic resource generators, manage crop farms, connect your machines to storage systems, and monitor your Auto Miners using the handheld Auto Miner Controller.
Auto Miner Family
Auto Miner provides several specialised machines for different types of automation.
⛏️ Auto Miner (A.M)
The standard Auto Miner uses Minecraft pickaxes to automatically mine suitable blocks directly in front of it.
Mined resources are collected into the Auto Miner's internal inventory, making it ideal for cobblestone generators, ore generators, Skyblock worlds and other renewable block-generation setups.
🪨 Dirt Auto Miner (D.A.M)
The Dirt Auto Miner is the shovel-based counterpart to the standard Auto Miner.
It uses ordinary Minecraft shovels and is designed for automatically mining shovel-based resources such as dirt, sand, gravel and clay.
🔥 Nether Auto Miner (N.A.M)
The Nether Auto Miner is designed for generators that can produce blocks requiring different tools.
It contains separate pickaxe and shovel slots and automatically uses the appropriate installed tool for the block it needs to mine.
This makes it particularly useful for Nether-style generators with mixed block outputs.
🌾 Farm Auto Miner (F.A.M)
The Farm Auto Miner automatically manages supported single-block crops within a directional 9x9 farming area.
It can:
- Plant crops onto available farmland.
- Detect and harvest mature crops.
- Automatically replant harvested crops.
- Store excess produce.
- Preserve planting resources when connected to automated extraction.
- Enable or disable individual supported crop types.
Supported crops currently include:
- Wheat
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Beetroot
The F.A.M uses ordinary Minecraft hoes and consumes tool durability while farming.
📟 Auto Miner Controller (A.M.C)
The Auto Miner Controller is a handheld monitor for keeping track of multiple Auto Miners from a single interface.
Use the A.M.C to link and monitor Auto Miners throughout your world.
The controller can display:
- Linked Auto Miner names.
- Custom names assigned through an anvil.
- Installed tools.
- Current and maximum tool durability.
- Miner status.
- Persistent mining statistics.
Linked miners can report several states:
- Working
- No Tool
- Tool Low
- Unloaded
- Missing
The A.M.C does not force linked miners' chunks to remain loaded.
Linked-miner information is stored persistently on the controller, so its links remain associated with it when moved between inventories or storage, dropped and picked back up, or across world save/reload.
📊 Miner Statistics
Auto Miners maintain persistent lifetime mining statistics.
The A.M.C includes a dedicated Stats view where statistics for linked miners can be inspected.
Statistics include:
- Total lifetime blocks mined.
- Mining totals grouped by block type.
Statistics are stored with the individual Auto Miner and persist across world save/reload.
For the initial implementation, displayed statistics remain static while the interface is open and are refreshed when the interface is closed and reopened.
🔧 Tool Mechanics
Auto Miners use real Minecraft tools rather than an artificial energy system.
- Tool durability is consumed during operation.
- Enchanted tools are supported.
- Unbreaking affects durability consumption.
- Enchanted, Diamond and Netherite tools can be protected from accidental destruction.
- Tools enchanted with Mending can automatically recover durability.
- Mining drops are collected directly into the miner's internal inventory.
Tool protection and Mending behaviour can be configured through Auto Miner's configuration file.
This means better tools and enchantments provide meaningful advantages while keeping automation connected to normal Minecraft progression.
📖 Mending Support
Damaged tools enchanted with Mending have a configurable chance to recover durability after successful Auto Miner operations.
By default:
- Mending recovery chance: 18%
- Mending repair amount: 2 durability
Both values can be changed through config/auto-miner.json.
📦 Storage & Hopper Automation
Auto Miners contain internal storage for the resources they collect.
Hoppers can extract output resources, allowing Auto Miners to connect naturally to larger storage and automation systems.
Tool slots are kept separate from normal automated output handling.
The Farm Auto Miner additionally protects planting resources required to keep its farm operating before allowing excess resources to be extracted.
🧭 Directional Placement
Auto Miners support horizontal directional placement.
Their mining or farming direction follows the visible front face of the block, allowing machines to be incorporated into generators and farms facing whichever direction the build requires.
⚙️ Configuration
Auto Miner creates:
config/auto-miner.json
Configuration options include:
- Enchanted tool protection.
- Diamond tool protection.
- Netherite tool protection.
- Mending recovery chance.
- Mending repair amount.
Configuration changes can be applied while Minecraft is running using:
/autominer reloadconfig
🌱 Vanilla-Friendly Automation
Auto Miner is deliberately designed to remain straightforward.
There is:
- No electricity.
- No RF/FE or other energy system.
- No fuel requirement.
- No complicated technology tree.
- No special mining tool required.
If you already understand Minecraft tools, you already understand the foundation of Auto Miner.
The crafting recipes and resource costs are designed around vanilla survival progression rather than making automation completely free.
☁️ Great for Skyblock
Auto Miner was originally designed with resource-limited gameplay in mind and works especially well with Skyblock-style worlds.
It can automate renewable resource generators and crop farms while still requiring the player to obtain, maintain and improve the tools used by each miner.
The mod is designed to reduce repetitive resource collection without removing Minecraft's normal tool and resource progression.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.2
- Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
Current Limitations
The Farm Auto Miner currently supports single-block crops only.
Supported crops are:
- Wheat
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Beetroot
Tall and multi-block crops such as Bamboo, Sugar Cane and Kelp are not currently supported.
Mending support uses Auto Miner's configurable internal recovery system rather than consuming spawned XP orbs.
