💻 Windows 9X Pack
What happens when extreme boredom meets a Windows 98 SE virtual machine? This resource pack.
While messing around in a VM running Windows 98 SE, I randomly had the epiphany: "Wait... a lot of these classic desktop background .bmp files actually look suspiciously like Minecraft textures." One thing led to another, I batch-converted them all to PNGs, and cobbled together this gloriously cursed resource pack.
🕹️ What’s inside?
This pack is built entirely out of original bitmaps sourced directly from vintage installation CDs:
- Windows 3.11
- Windows NT 4.0
- Windows 95 OSR
- Windows 98 SE
(Yes, Chiseled Quartz is literally the Windows NT logo, Bedrock is made of 1990s coffee beans, and Lava is a mind-bending 3D geometric cube pattern.)
I’m actually super happy with how much of the Nether I managed to cover—some of those dark, red-and-black retro grid patterns fit surprisingly well into a hellish dimension.
⚠️ Disclaimer & Work in Progress
- This is a joke/troll pack. It is not meant to be taken seriously or to look "pretty" in a traditional sense. It’s pure 90s OS chaos.
- It is far from finished! I’m definitely missing some OG textures. I haven’t dug through stuff like the Microsoft Plus! expansion packs yet, which probably hold even more hidden gems.
