Cozy rain, heard from indoors

Sheltered Rain Sound restores the cozy, muffled indoor rain ambience reminiscent of older Minecraft versions. When you enter an enclosed shelter, the mod suppresses the loud outdoor rain layer and lets Minecraft's quieter indoor rain sound come through.

Nearby openings are taken into account: outdoor rain remains audible through open doorways and open-sided structures, while walls, closed doors, glass, and glass panes block it.

Configuration

The opening-detection distance defaults to 8 blocks. After launching the game once, you can change it in:

The mod uses a lightweight local heuristic rather than complete sound propagation, so openings around corners or beyond the configured distance are not detected.
