Create Railway Additions
Post a speed limit and your trains obey it braking in advance, holding the limit through the restricted stretch, and picking their speed back up when it ends.
This mod is heavily inspired by Create: Tramways
Signs
All five are placed the same way as Create's Train Signals: right-click the piece of track the sign applies to, then place the sign anywhere within 16 blocks of it. A marker shows what it is bound to. Right-click a sign with a wrench to set its speed.
Speed Limit: caps automatic trains at the posted speed. A train that needs to slow begins braking early enough to be at the limit by the time it reaches the sign; one that may speed up only does so once past. The limit holds until another speed limit sign changes it.
Temporary Speed Limit Sets the current limit aside instead of replacing it.
Temporary Limit End Hands back whatever limit applied before the restriction.
Whistle Automatic trains sound their whistle from 30 blocks out until they pass. The train needs a Steam Whistle to be heard.
Advance Warning Indicator Warning of a restriction ahead. Signage only (it does nothing to trains)
Speeds are real speeds
Limits are set in km/h and stay absolute. This is independent of train speeds set in create's config.
Placement
Where you click decides how a sign is placed:
| Clicked | Result |
|---|---|
| The side of a block | Flat against it, no post |
| The side of a girder | Flat against the beam |
| The ground | On a girder pole |
Schedule instruction
Set Speed Limit gives a train a maxmium speed for the rest of its schedule, and hands that train over to this mod:
- This is the maximum speed the train can run at. (You can think about it like a physical limit). It will not drive faster even if the speed limit would allow it.
- Its top speed becomes the figure you set. even above Create's
trainTopSpeed, up to this mod's configured ceiling - It no longer slows for curves
A train that has never been given the instruction is left entirely to Create: its own top speed, its own turn slowing, while still obeying signs.
! Create config's train acceleration field still applies to trains regardless.
Configuration
maxSpeedLimit (default 300 km/h) caps what can be set on a sign or by the schedule instruction.
