๐ฐ Maze Mod โ Changelog
All notable changes to the Maze Mod are documented here.
๐ v1.2.0 โ The Architect Update
Released: July 5, 2026 ยท Platforms: Forge 1.16.5 โ 1.20.1, NeoForge 1.20.1
โจ New Features
-
Center Room Size Control A new stepper widget on Page 2 of the Maze Control Panel lets you set the center room dimensions from 3ร3 up to 20ร20 blocks. Previously, the center room scaled automatically based on maze size โ now you have full control. The stepper is only active when Center Room is enabled.
-
Random Rooms Introducing the Rooms toggle (Page 1) and Rooms Count stepper (Page 2, 0โ50). When enabled, the generator scatters 5ร5 open rooms at random positions throughout the maze corridors. Rooms are guaranteed to spawn at least 5 blocks away from the center room (or the beacon if the center room is disabled), and never overlap each other.
๐ง Bug Fixes
-
Exits no longer blocked by maze walls (critical fix) On large mazes (120+ blocks), exits were carved through the border wall but the internal maze structure would block access to them. The old approach scanned inward until it found air โ which failed when the nearest path was far away. The new algorithm mathematically calculates the nearest grid-aligned maze corridor and carves a direct connection corridor from the exit to the path grid. This works reliably at any maze size.
-
exitsCountnow properly saved and restored Fixed a bug whereexitsCount, lifeChests, andlifeRoomChestCountwere not copied from the parsed arguments to the maze data object duringcreate/rebuildcommands, causing exits to always default to 4.
๐ v1.2.0 โ The Exits Update
Released: July 5, 2026 ยท Platforms: Forge 1.16.5 โ 1.20.1, NeoForge 1.20.1, Fabric 1.16.5 โ 1.20.1
โจ New Features
-
Fabric Support Added full Fabric modules for Minecraft 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, and 1.20.1 โ including the complete GUI, keybinding, networking, and maze generation.
-
NeoForge Support Added a dedicated NeoForge 1.20.1 module alongside the existing Forge builds.
๐ง Bug Fixes
-
Has Exits Count now works correctly The Count stepper next to Has Exits in the Maze Control Panel now properly limits the number of maze entrances:
Count = 1โ exactly 1 exit (random side)Count = 2โ 2 exits (opposite pair: N/S or W/E)Count = 3โ 3 exits (one random side excluded)Count = 4โ all 4 exits
-
Java 8 compatibility Replaced
List.of()calls withArrays.asList()in 1.16.5 modules to prevent crashes on Java 8 runtimes.
๐จ v1.0.0 โ Initial Release
Released: February 2026 ยท Platforms: Forge 1.16.5, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.1

Maze Control Panel โ A 4-page Bedrock-style GUI (press
M) with:- Page 1 โ Design: Position markers, height, Life Room, roof, center room, torches, exits with count, wall/floor color pickers, theme selector
- Page 2 โ Settings: Timer, zombie/chest counts, wall/path width, stone chance, erosion, Life Room chest count, loot drops, mob spawn ban
- Page 3 โ Actions: Create, rebuild, refresh, delete mazes; start/stop/reset timer; clear positions; list mazes; apply settings
- Page 4 โ GUI Settings: Scalable GUI (50โ150%), background opacity, text color picker
-
Procedural Maze Generation Recursive backtracker algorithm with configurable path width, wall width, and erosion for organic-looking corridors.
-
Life Room Mode A special center room decorated with grass, oak trees, flowers, and a beacon โ designed for survival-style gameplay.
-
Themed Mazes JSON-based theme system for custom wall/floor block palettes with weighted randomization.
-
Zombie Waves Timed zombie spawning with configurable count, TTL, and difficulty. Supports win tracking per player.
-
Loot Chests Randomized chest placement with configurable loot tables and drop chances.
-
Multi-Maze Management Create, name, and manage multiple mazes simultaneously. Each maze stores its own state, positions, and settings.
-

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
