The challenge: collect every item in the game — one at a time, in random order.
The top of your screen only ever shows the single item you're currently after. The moment it lands in your inventory it's ticked off and the next one appears. No peeking ahead at what's coming.
Features
- Random order, reproducible via seed
- Automatic detection as soon as the item is in your inventory, off-hand, or an armour slot
- Display at the top centre: progress, item icon, and name
- Warning for items that can't be obtained in survival (command blocks, spawn eggs, barriers …) — skippable by command
- Overview with a scrollable item grid: done, skipped, remaining
- Remaining items are listed alphabetically so the upcoming order stays hidden
- Chat message and sound on every find, plus a celebration when you finish
- Adjustable colour and background for the display
- Progress saved per world
Complete item list
The item pool is read from the game's registry at runtime. Nothing is hardcoded, so it always contains exactly the items your version ships with, including everything newly added. The only exception is minecraft:air.
Run /challenge dump to write the full list to config/item-challenge/items.txt.
Commands
Command & Effect
/challenge start [seed]| Start a new challenge/challenge list| Open the overview/challenge skip| Skip the current item/challenge current| Show the current item in chat/challenge pause/resume| Halt or continue detection/challenge hide/show| Show or hide the display/challenge bg on/off| Toggle background/challenge color <hex>| Change colour, e.g.FF55FF/challenge dump| Write the item list to a text file/challenge reset| Clear all progress
Notes
Client-side mod for singleplayer. It has no effect on servers. Requires Fabric API.
Pairs well with Challenge Timer if you want to track your run time.
