☁ Simply Weather
Simply Weather overhauls Minecraft's sky with real-time ray-marched volumetric clouds and localized weather systems.
This mod is still in development and there might be bugs
Instead of Minecraft's weather affecting the entire world at once, Simply Weather creates individual weather systems that move through the world independently.
You can stand beneath a thunderstorm while another player several hundred blocks away is under clear skies.
🌤 Volumetric Clouds
Simply Weather replaces Minecraft's flat cloud layer with GPU ray-marched volumetric clouds.
Clouds have real depth, lighting, internal density, bright sunlit edges, darker undersides, and procedural three-dimensional structure.
🌦 Localized Weather
Weather exists as individual systems rather than one global rain state.
A storm has its own:
- Position
- Size
- Intensity
- Wind
- Rainfall
- Cloud structure
- Lifetime
Weather systems slowly travel across the world and evolve over time.
⛈ Storm Clouds
Storms look noticeably different from ordinary clouds.
Cumulonimbus and other storm clouds become:
- Darker
- Denser
- More opaque
- Taller
- More strongly shadowed
- More dramatic underneath
Fair-weather clouds remain brighter and softer.
☁ Cloud Types
Simply Weather currently includes several cloud formations, including:
- Cumulus
- Stratus
- Towering Cumulus
- Cumulonimbus
- Shelf Clouds
- Mammatus
Different cloud types use different shapes, densities, heights, and weather behavior.
🌧 Local Precipitation
Rain is associated with individual weather systems.
Instead of rain suddenly covering the entire Minecraft world, precipitation occurs underneath the appropriate cloud systems.
This allows distant storms, approaching rain, clear areas between storms, and changing local conditions.
🎮 Commands
Spawn a weather system:
/weather storm cumulonimbus 1.0
