Enhance your Minecraft journey with a complete overhaul to underground exploration! The Gems & Metals Expansion introduces 7 brand-new resources to find, mine, and forge. This datapack is designed to diversify your equipment choices by offering unique armor sets, each coming with its own distinct advantages to support different playstyles.

⚒️ Features & How it Works

🌍 Seamless Ore Generation & Mining Mechanics

The new ores won't clog up your inventory or mess with complex world-generation rules. Instead, they seamlessly replace specific vanilla Deepslate ore variants, Emerald Ore, and Nether Gold Ore. Grab your pickaxe and head into the deep dark or the dangerous Nether wastes to find them!

  • Mining Mechanics: All custom ores behave just like vanilla ores—you can mine them normally, use Fortune to increase your resource yield, or collect them with Silk Touch (which retains their custom name and texture). If you prefer, Silk-Touched ore blocks can also be smelled directly in a furnace!

  • Vanilla-Style Crafting: Crafting follows standard vanilla patterns using the newly acquired materials. Use them to forge complete gear sets tailored to your specific needs.
  • In-Game Advancements: Track your mining and blacksmithing achievements with a custom set of advancements. Can you obtain the legendary Mithril Armor?

🟢 Jade (The Armor of Nature)

Replaces Deepslate Copper Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: +3 Safe Fall Distance | +0.1 Jump Strength | +0.25 Step Height
  • Set-Bonus:
    • In Overworld: Resistance I / Speed I / Haste I
    • In Forest/Jungle/Taiga/Savanna: Resistance II / Haste II
    • In Nether: Weakness II / Slowness II / Wither II
    • In End: Weakness I / Slowness I / Wither I

🔵 Sapphire (The Armor of Water)

Replaces Deepslate Coal Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: +2 Submerged Mining Speed | +0.5 Oxygen Bonus | +0.25 Water Movement Efficiency
  • Set-Bonus:
    • Permanent: Dolphin's Grace I
    • In Water: Conduit Power V / Strength III / Resistance I (5s) / Fire Resistance (30s)
    • In Lava: Slowness I (5s) / Wither III
    • In Fire: Weakness II / Slowness II

🔴 Ruby (The Armor of Fire)

Replaces Emerald Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: +5% Attack Damage
  • Set-Bonus:
    • Permanent: Fire Resistance I
    • In Lava: Strength III / Resistance II / Haste III
    • In Fire: Strength I / Speed V
    • In Nether: Strength I / Haste II / Resistance I
    • In Water: Slowness II / Weakness II / Wither III

⚪ Silver (The Armor Against the Undead)

Replaces Deepslate Gold Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: +10% Attack Speed
  • Set-Bonus: None

⚫ Titanium (The Resilient Armor)

Replaces Deepslate Lapis Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: +5 Max Health
  • Set-Bonus: None

🌀 Mithril (The Legendary Armor)

Replaces Deepslate Emerald Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: Provides exceptionally high Armor, Armor Toughness, and massive Durability. This is truly the most powerful, yet rarest gear set in the pack.
  • Set-Bonus: None

🟣 Malignite (The Armor of Remnants)

Replaces Nether Gold Ore

  • Per-Piece Bonus: +25% Explosion Knockback Resistance | +25% Knockback Resistance
  • Set-Bonus:
    • Permanent Immunity to: Wither, Poison, Mining Fatigue, Blindness, Darkness, Nausea, Hunger, Slowness, Weakness, Infested, Oozing, Weaving, Wind Charged, and Unluck.

⚠️ IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS

This datapack requires its corresponding Resource Pack to display textures correctly. Without it, items will appear as default vanilla objects or broken textures.

💡 Note on Recipe Previews: Due to technical limitations, checking a recipe in the recipe book without having the required custom materials in your actual inventory will temporarily display the underlying vanilla base item instead of the custom gem/metal texture.

🛠️ Installation

📂 Datapack

  1. Download the datapack .zip file.
  2. Place it into your world's world/datapacks folder.

🎨 Resource Pack

  1. Download the resource pack .zip file.
  2. Place it into your .minecraft/resourcepacks folder.
  3. Enable it in your in-game Options > Resource Packs menu.

💡 Note: Ensure you download both files. You can find them under the Versions tab.

⚙️ Compatibility & Technical Notes

  • Expansion Compatibility: Fully designed to play well and interconnect with my other Expansion Datapacks.
  • World Generation & Loot Tables: Because this pack replaces certain Deepslate ores, Emerald Ore, and Nether Gold Ore, it may conflict with other datapacks that heavily modify world generation or loot tables for these specific blocks.
  • Technical Base Items: The custom materials utilize Minecraft Spawn Eggs (with spawning behaviors disabled) as base items. This pack may conflict with other datapacks that modify or use the exact same Spawn Eggs.
    • (Note: The Forsaken Souls Expansion for example is fully compatible as it uses different Spawn Eggs).
