SeeThrough
A paired-vision mod where two players see the world through each other's eyes.
You move your own character. You control your own hotbar. You take your own damage. But the world you see on your screen? That belongs to your partner. To navigate intentionally, you have to keep each other in sight — because the only way you can see yourself is through their eyes.
Originally built for duo recordings on the BubboSMP channel, but it works for any number of pairs on a server.

How it works
Each pair is symmetric. When player A is paired with player B:
- A's screen shows what B sees — B's position, B's rotation, B's view of the world.
- B's screen shows what A sees — A's position, A's rotation, A's view of the world.
- Your HUD stays normal. Hotbar, hearts, hunger, crosshair, experience — all yours. Only the world view is swapped.
- Sound, chunk loading, and damage stay tied to you. You don't get teleported, you don't take your partner's damage — only your vision moves.
Smart fallbacks
The mod automatically falls back to your own view when seeing through your partner would break the game:
- Partner is offline → see your own view until they reconnect
- Partner is dead → see your own view until they respawn (no getting stuck on a death screen)
- Partner is out of render distance → see your own view until they're back in range
Pairings persist across these states, so when your partner comes back, the swap resumes automatically.
Commands
All commands require op level 2.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/seethrough pair <playerA> <playerB> |
Pairs two players. Either player being already paired? Those pairings are cleared first. |
/seethrough unpair <player> |
Removes this player from their current pair. Their partner is unpaired too. |
/seethrough clear |
Removes every pairing on the server. |
/seethrough status |
Shows your current partner. |
Example
/seethrough pair Bubbo Baablu
Both clients immediately swap to seeing through each other. To end the swap:
/seethrough clear
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.1.2
- Fabric Loader 0.18.4+
- Fabric API
- Java 25+
Required on both the server and the client. A vanilla client cannot connect to a server running SeeThrough — both sides need the mod installed.
What it's good for
- Duo collab videos where the chaos comes from forced cooperation.
- Server events where you want a "blind leading the blind" challenge round.
- Speedrun twists — try beating the dragon when you can't directly see your own character.
- Puzzle maps built around the swapped-vision constraint.
The mod imposes no goal of its own. It's just the mechanic. What you do with it is up to you.
Known limitations
- Combat is genuinely hard when paired. This is intentional — it's the design — but be aware that solo PvP isn't really the format this mod was built for.
- If your partner is far underground while you're on the surface, your screen will show a cave (or pitch black, if it's unlit). This is the mechanic working correctly, but it can feel jarring. Communicate before you split up.
- Players can only be in one pair at a time. Pairing someone who's already paired automatically clears their previous pair.
Compatibility
SeeThrough only modifies the client camera and adds server-side commands. It should be compatible with most other mods. If you find a conflict, please open an issue.
