There are 9 banners all with unique effects that affect all selected players in a certain radius while active. They have 4 modes that are cycled by shift-use while in offhand

  1. Blocking: functioning as a normal shield to make sure there is no acidental activation
  2. Activating: while using while uncrouched activates the banner for its full duration. The effects are only active while in offhand but it can be enabled in mainhand.
  3. Recruiting: punching someone with the shield in your hand marks them as someone affected by your banner
  4. Revoking: opposite of revoking
