c418only strips all non-C418 ambient music from the game and remaps those slots back to C418 tracks. That's it.
Mojang has been gradually replacing the ambient soundtrack since 1.16. Lena Raine, Kumi Tanioka, Aaron Cherof, Samuel Åberg. Some of them make fine music. It's just that they don't make Minecraft music. C418's work on Volume Alpha and Beta is one of the most distinctive soundscapes in gaming history and it deserves to play uninterrupted.
What this does
- Removes all non-C418 ambient/background tracks added since 1.16
- Remaps those music event slots to C418 tracks from Volume Alpha & Beta
- Music discs are completely untouched. You can still listen to your tracks you found on loot chests.
- No audio files are bundled. this mod only overrides sounds.json event mappings to redirect vanilla assets you already have
What this doesn't do Nothing else. No gameplay changes, no performance impact, no config screen. It's extremely small.
Compatibility Fabric - Java 1.21.x - Client-side only, works on any server
Legal note: No music files are included or redistributed. This mod remaps vanilla sound event keys only. All audio remains Mojang's assets on your own installation.
PS: I added the source code as a zip file, so you can check it out yourself. I also provided a GitHub link.
