Cobblemon Special Fossils
Adds additional variants for a bunch of Cobblemon fossils. They can be guaranteed shiny, have full max IVs, or have their hidden ability, as well as combinations of those.
You'll be able to tell from the inventory icon of the respective fossil which of those properties, if any, it has. For the Galarian fossilmon, both parts will need to have the same properties.
Support for several popular mods is also being worked on, where practical.
By default, the item variants will be added as archaeology loot to the same pools that the base fossils belong to.
➕ Additional Features
💿 Research Disc
This mod adds the new Research Disc item, which can be used in the recipes for Mewtwo and Type:Null from ATMxMSD to apply the special properties from it to them. It will occasionally be found in Pokémon center loot chests and traded by level 5 nurses. As with fossils, variants of it are going to be rare, but even plain ones might not be entirely useless, since data on the creation of artificial Pokémon might come in handy elsewhere as well.
⚠️ Breaking Changes
- Version 0.3 is the last where the item variants are actually dedicated items. All following versions instead use the normal items with data components attached. That means that when you update from version 0.3, your existing variants will be lost.
🦴 Supported Fossils
- Cobblemon (all fossil items and fossil Pokémon)
- Complete Galar Fossilmon (all fossil Pokémon)
- AllTheMons x Mega Showdown (Genesect, Mewtwo, Type:Null)
⚙️ Configuration and Rarity
There is a configuration file that is automatically generated on the first load. This contains two settings: baseDropChance, which scales the overall rarity of dropping a variant fossil rather than a vanilla one (range 0.0–1.0, with 1.0 meaning one third of fossils will be variants), and variantRatio, which holds a three-way ratio for the relative rarity of different variants as a three-element array. These will be interpreted as "a:b:c", controlling the relative rarity of variants with one, two, and three of the special properties respectively.
The above values are used both for the archaeology loot tables from Cobblemon itself and for the Cobbleworkers integration.
♿ Accessibility
The special properties are signaled by up to three "sparks" on the item itself, which are consistent in both color and position. For those with color blindness or other vision problems, they are also included in the tooltip of the item.
🔗 Dependencies
- Cobblemon >= 1.7.3
- Fabric API 0.116.8+1.21.1
- (Optional) Cobbleworkers – if installed, the new fossils variants will occasionally be dug up by the "archeologist" job
- (Optional) Complete Galar Fossilmon
- (Optional) Cobblemon Chimeric Shinies – if installed, combining Galarian fossils that only differ in shininess will result in chimeric shinies
- (Optional) AllTheMons x Mega Showdown – if installed, Genesect will take on the properties of the Dome Fossil used in its creation, while Mewtwo and Type:Null can optionally use the new Research Disc item in their respective recipes to get their properties from that
- (Optional) Cobblemon Fossil Deposits – if installed, excavated fossils have a chance to carry variant flags from this mod
↔️ Compatibility
Some very specific cases might require dedicated implemantions in this mod. However, in many cases a JSON file can get the job done, such as for ATMxMSD, Chimeric Shinies, Cobbleworkers, and Complete Galar Fossilmon, for which the respective files are included in this mod already. The JSON schema can be found in the resources folder here.
