Hookline A grappling hook mod for Fabric.

Fire a hook, swing on the rope, reel yourself in — or hook a mob and drag it to you.

How it works One right-click, three steps:

The rope constrains your distance: once it goes taut, the part of your velocity that would drag you further away is cancelled, and you swing like a pendulum. Rope length is measured at the moment the hook bites, so it never yanks you the instant it lands.

Reeling in winds the rope up — you cannot swing back out past the point you pulled yourself to.

Mobs Hit a living entity and the hook bites into it (dealing half a heart). From then on, reeling pulls the mob toward you instead of you toward it. The hook rides along with its target; if the mob dies or runs too far, the rope snaps.

Letting go When a hook that was holding you releases:

Momentum is kept — your speed carries over with a small boost and a gentle lift, so you clear the ledge instead of sliding down the wall. Soft landing — fall damage is ignored for 3 seconds afterwards. Details The hook flies claws first — the same 3D model you hold in your hand, rotated to face its direction of travel. The rope is a 3D chain, not a flat line: each segment is two perpendicular planes, so it has volume from every angle. Sparks fly and a chain sound plays when the hook bites into stone.
