Challenge Timer
A lightweight, server-side challenge timer for Minecraft. Track your playtime and in-game day right in the action bar, run death-is-failure challenges, and start fresh worlds on demand — all through simple /ct commands.
Perfect for speedruns, hardcore-style challenges, "how many days can you survive" runs, and multiplayer challenge servers.
✨ Features
- ⏱️ Live action-bar display — shows your played time and the current in-game day, always visible while you play.
- 🎛️ Three display modes — show the timer only, the day only, or both side by side.
- 💀 Challenge mode — when a player dies, the challenge counts as failed: the timer freezes, the death screen is skipped, and everyone is instantly put into spectator mode with a bold "Challenge failed" title.
- 🌍 One-command world restart —
/ct resetdeletes the world and generates a brand-new one with a fresh random seed. As a safety guard, it only runs when all players are in spectator mode. - 🌐 Automatic language — every message appears in German or English, automatically based on each player's game language. No config needed.
- 🪶 Server-side & lightweight — runs entirely on the server. Players don't need to install anything.
🎮 Commands
All players can view info; changing settings requires operator/gamemaster permission (op level 2).
| Command | Permission | Description |
|---|---|---|
/ct help |
Everyone | Show all commands |
/ct status |
Everyone | Show elapsed time, in-game day and all settings |
/ct mode both |
Operator | Display day and time |
/ct mode timer |
Operator | Display the time only |
/ct mode days |
Operator | Display the day only |
/ct challenge on / off |
Operator | Toggle: on death the challenge counts as failed |
/ct reset |
Operator | Restart the world with a new seed (only if everyone is in spectator) |
⚠️ Important: /ct reset
/ct reset permanently deletes the current world and regenerates it with a new seed — this cannot be undone. It is intentionally locked behind the requirement that all online players are in spectator mode (which naturally happens after a failed challenge). After the reset the server stops; simply re-open / rejoin the world to drop into the freshly generated world.
Works on dedicated servers and in singleplayer. Since it's server-side, only the server (or the world host) needs the mod.
