Overview:
Ethereal Armors is a mod designed to spice up progression by adding alternative armor sets at each phase: Iron Tier, Diamond Tier, Netherite Tier, and even a new planned tier, Post-Game. There are two sets currently added by the mod (Steel and Ruby), and potentially five more planned.
Added by the Mod:
Steel:
Steel is obtained by smelting iron in a blast furnace. It isn't a direct upgrade to iron, as some steel items are better than iron while some are worse.
Steel Tools: All normal tools can be made from steel, and possess slightly better breaking ability than iron. They also have even worse enchantablility, though.
Steel Sword: Steel has a sword, though it functions more like an axe. It starts with knockback 3, and it deals 7 Attack Damage, as well as attacking once per second like other axes.
Steel Armor: Steel armor functions similarily to steel tools, having low enchantability, but slightly higher defensive ability than iron.
Sharpening Station: A special Sharpening Station is craftable with steel. It can be used to sharpen weapons by inserting the desired weapon along with three pieces of the corresponding material.
Ruby:
Rubies are obtained from reasonably large ore veins below Y=0. When first mined, they are unrefined, and have to be refined at a sharpening station. To do so, you need a diamond tier or higher pickaxe along with three unrefined rubies. The process consumes the unrefined rubies, along with some durability from the pickaxe, to produce a single refined ruby.
Ruby Tools: All normal tools can be made from steel, with gold instead of sticks. They have slightly worse breaking ability than diamond, but have better enchantability in exchage.
Ruby Rapier: The ruby set does not have a normal sword, but instead a rapier. It does only 5 damage (the same as a stone sword) but attacks twice per second. This means it ends up dealing more dps than a diamond sword with sharpness 5.
Ruby Armor: Ruby armor grants the same defense as diamond. It has slightly higher enchantability, but has no armor toughness (the stat that reduces damage taken by percentage). It also grants you permanent speed I when the full set is worn at once.
Ruby Wands: The ruby set features a special wand. It doesn't do anything by default, but can be infused with a spell at the Imbuement Table, crafted from ruby and obsidian, using a fire charge, ender pearl, or oxeye daisy. This allows it to shoot fireballs, throw ender pearls, or regenerate the user, respectively. The cooldown is shared for all wands, however, regardless of the infused spell.
