The Wasteland is a mod for NeoForge 1.21.1 that adds a new radioactive dimension to Minecraft : the Wasteland ! In this dangerous dimension, you will find new threats like mobs or even worse : radioactivity ! But you can also craft items to help you survive this challenging dimension.

IMPORTANT : This mod does not add any content to the overworld so if you're looking for a mod to include on a zombie apocalypse modpack for example, this mod probably isn't what you want.
[🧭] How to get to the Wasteland ?
To enter the Wasteland, you will need to build a portal out of hazard concrete. Hazard concrete is a new building block that can be made out of yellow and black concrete. Then, you will need a portal core in order to ignite it. The portal core can be crafted with iron, glass panes and a flint and steel.

[☢️] Radioactivity
The Wasteland introduces a brand new mechanic to Minecraft : radioactivity ! Players can be irradiated by :
- staying in the Wasteland for too long without protection
- standing near a radioactive block such as a waste barrel
- having a radioactive item in their inventory
- standing close to another irradiated player

Players affected by radiation will feel the effects step by step depending on their current amount of radiation :
- ≥ 25 Sv : Radiation poisoning I (2 less hearts)
- ≥ 50 Sv : Radiation poisoning II (4 less hearts), Mining fatigue I
- ≥ 75 Sv : Radiation poisoning III (6 less hearts), Mining fatigue II, Slowness I
- ≥ 100 Sv : Radiation poisoning IIII (8 less hearts), Mining fatigue III, Slowness II, Wither I
Players can use a geiger counter to see their radiation level. A gas mask will divide the radiation they receive by 2, and a hazmat suit provides complete protection against radiation !
This system can be configured by gamerules and commands :
-
/gamerule doAmbientRadiation: controls the irradiation by staying in radioactive biomes. -
/gamerule doBlockRadiation: controls the irradiation by standing near a radioactive block. -
/gamerule doInventoryRadiation: controls the irradiation by having a radioactive item in inventory. -
/gamerule doPlayerProximityRadiation: controls the irradiation by being close to an irradiated player. -
/radiation set <player> <amount>: sets specified radiation amount for specified player. -
/radiation get <player>: returns the radiation amount of specified player. -
/radiation toggle <player>: enables/disables radiation for specified player.
[🪳] Mobs in the Wasteland
- The irradipede :
Irradipedes are fearful insects that live in groups in the Wasteland. They will try to avoid you, but if you hit one of them, they will all attack you at once. Upon death, they can drop irradipede scutes, which are use to craft a scute shield or can be combined with bone meal to create dubious fertilizer.

- The ghoul :
Ghouls are zombie-like creatures that roam the Wasteland at night. They are aggressive and can spawn with a random potion effect, like speed, health boost or infestation, making each encounter unique. They drop rotten flesh when killed.

- The irradiated :
Irradiateds are a special version of ghouls wearing a hazmat suit. They seem to be attracted by radiation. If they attack an irradiated player, they will go faster and deal more damage. Killing one will reward you with rubber and aluminium nuggets.

- The mutant :
Mutants are strong and tall mobs that were turned into monsters by radiation. Theses beasts have a high amount of HP and deal a lot of damage. They also hate irradipedes and will try to attack them, which will often make the whole group of irradipedes attack back. If you manage to kill one, it will drop meat, and sometimes a bonus item like leather, string or slime balls.

- The wanderer :
Wanderers are illagers that tried to colonize the Wasteland. They wear an hazmat suit and spawn with a random melee weapon. Wanderers can be found in their camps. They can sometimes drop their weapon.

[🏚️] Structures inside the Wasteland
The Wasteland contains many ruined structures, remnants of a civilization that disapeared after a nuclear disaster. Theses structures include :
- The gas station :
Inspired by the gas station from Rust

- The factory :
This one is inspired from a build I found on Internet

- The supermarket :
