Lost in Time – Custom Model Data Expansion Pack (Beta)
Lost in Time is an experimental resource pack designed to expand Minecraft’s creative possibilities through Custom Model Data (CMD) — unlocking new, unique item models that go far beyond the vanilla aesthetic. This beta version lays the foundation for a system that allows players, creators, and mapmakers to add custom 3D items directly into their worlds using simple commands.
Lost in Time redefines the concept of "items" in Minecraft. Instead of replacing default textures, it uses Custom Model Data tags to attach entirely new 3D models to existing items — meaning no textures are overwritten and everything remains fully compatible with other packs.
All models have been handcrafted to fit seamlessly into Minecraft’s art style while adding depth, realism, and variety. Future updates will expand the available selection and add support for in-game naming through anvils, removing the need for commands.
Current Features (Beta)
- Custom Model Data Integration: Each model is accessed through Minecraft’s built-in CMD system. You can summon items with custom appearances using the /give command. /give @p minecraft:item_name{CustomModelData:X} Replace item_name with the base item and X with one of the IDs listed below.
- Commandblock Models: 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131, 321, 322, 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, 328, 329, 332, 333, 334, 335, 336, 500
- Paper Models: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 100
Upcoming Features
- Anvil Naming System: A future update will allow you to apply custom models simply by renaming items in an anvil — no commands required. This system will make the pack fully survival-compatible and accessible for creative builders who want to experiment.
- Expanded Model Library: Upcoming releases will include decorative props, ancient relics, and mechanical components to expand building and storytelling potential.
- Optimized Performance: Models are being reworked to maintain low polygon counts while keeping high-quality detail for better performance on all systems.
Development Status This pack is currently in beta, which means:
- Some models may be placeholders or incomplete.
- Future versions will refine existing assets and introduce more categories of items.
- Compatibility with Minecraft 1.21+ is prioritized, with plans to support later versions as they release.
