StaffSee is a lightweight Fabric server moderation mod for Minecraft. Ban, mute, warn, kick, freeze, vanish and report players. Every action is logged to simple `.txt` files in your world folder. Optional Discord webhook and LuckPerms support. Server-side only. Vanilla clients can join.
## How it works StaffSee runs entirely on the server. Staff use slash commands; the mod writes each action to `world/StaffLog/` in human-readable text files - one folder per player, plus shared audit files for chat and reports. No database. No web panel. Open the files in any text editor. --- ## Commands **`/warn `** Warn a player and append the entry to their log. **`/warns `** Show recent warnings for a player. **`/mute [duration] `** Block chat messages. Durations: `30m`, `2h`, `1d`, or `perm` for permanent. **`/unmute `** Remove an active mute. **`/kick `** Kick a player and log the reason. **`/ban [reason]`** / **`/tempban [reason]`** / **`/unban `** Ban or unban a player. Uses the normal ban list (`banned-players.json` and the vanilla ban screen keep working) and is logged to `bans.txt`. Offline players can be banned too. `/pardon` works like `/unban` and is logged the same way. **`/freeze [reason]`** Freeze a player in place - no movement, no interactions. Useful for screenshares. **`/unfreeze `** Remove an active freeze. **`/history [page]`** One paged list with all warns, mutes, kicks, freezes, bans and reports of a player, newest first. Shows if the player is banned right now. **`/history chests [page]`** When [ChestSee](https://modrinth.com/mod/chestsee-chestlogger) is installed, shows the player's container activity from the ChestSee logs. Click an entry to open it with `/chestsee lookup`. ChestSee stays optional. **`/vanish`** Hide from the tab list and the world for normal players, with no join/leave messages while vanished. Other staff still see you. Vanished players are also left out of `/list`, the player count and player list in the server list, and name suggestions in commands. Stays on after relogging and restarts. **`/sc `** / **`/sc`** Send a message to staff only, or toggle staff chat so normal chat goes to staff. Works while muted. **`/report `** Report a player. Online staff are notified instantly. **`/reports`** List open reports (staff). **`/reports resolve `** Close a report and archive it to a `.txt` file (staff). > Staff commands need OP level 2 by default, or LuckPerms nodes (see Permissions below). `/report` is available to everyone by default. --- ## Log structure ``` world/ └── StaffLog/ ├── _mutes.json ├── _counts.json ├── _freezes.json ├── _reports.json ├── _chat/ │ └── 2026-07-07.txt ├── _reports/ │ └── 2026-07-07.txt └── Steve/ ├── warns.txt ├── mutes.txt ├── kicks.txt ├── freezes.txt └── bans.txt ``` Each player gets their own folder. Staff actions are split into separate files - easy to review, easy to share. Chat messages are logged globally under `_chat/`, one file per day. --- ## Example entry `world/StaffLog/Steve/warns.txt` ``` [06.07.26 21:15:33] by AdminName Reason: Griefing spawn area ``` --- ## Config On first start, StaffSee creates `config/staffsee.json`. New options are added automatically on update; your values are kept. ```json { "autoKickAfterWarns": 0, "muteMessage": "You are muted.", "warnBroadcast": false, "freezeMessage": "You are frozen by staff.", "logChat": true, "reportCooldownSeconds": 60, "discordWebhookUrl": "", "discordReports": true, "discordPunishments": false } ``` | Option | Description | | --- | --- | | `autoKickAfterWarns` | Auto-kick after N warnings. Set to `0` to disable. | | `muteMessage` | Message shown when a muted player tries to chat. | | `warnBroadcast` | Broadcast warnings to all online players. | | `freezeMessage` | Message shown when a frozen player tries to move or chat. | | `logChat` | Write all chat messages to `_chat/YYYY-MM-DD.txt`. | | `reportCooldownSeconds` | Cooldown between `/report` per player. Set to `0` to disable. | | `discordWebhookUrl` | Discord webhook URL. Leave empty to disable. | | `discordReports` | Send player reports to Discord. | | `discordPunishments` | Also send warns, mutes, kicks, freezes and bans. | Discord messages are sent in the background and never ping anyone. --- ## Permissions (optional - LuckPerms) StaffSee uses fabric-permissions-api. Without LuckPerms, staff commands require OP level 2. | Node | Access | | --- | --- | | `staffsee.moderate` | All staff commands | | `staffsee.report` | `/report` (default: everyone) | | `staffsee.vanish` | `/vanish` (defaults to `staffsee.moderate`) | | `staffsee.vanish.see` | See vanished staff (defaults to `staffsee.moderate`) | | `staffsee.staffchat` | `/sc` (defaults to `staffsee.moderate`) | Example: ``` /lp group moderator permission set staffsee.moderate true ``` --- ## Companion mod StaffSee pairs with **[ChestSee](https://modrinth.com/mod/chestsee-chestlogger)** - log container interactions in `ChestLog/`, handle player moderation in `StaffLog/`. --- ## Install 1. Install **Fabric Loader** and **Fabric API** for your Minecraft version 2. Place `StaffSee.jar` in your server's `mods/` folder 3. Restart the server Done. No extra setup required.
