Details
Better genetics is a datapack that adds a twist to animal breeding. Wild animals now spawn with random statistics. They can affect properties such as how much meat a pig drops on death, how fast a chicken lays eggs, how much damage a wolf deals per attack and more. When breeding animals, offspring inherit stats from their parents. The baby's stat value is the average of both parents with a chance for it to be higher.
Basics
- Craft an Animal Analyzer with wheat and carrot on a stick (see above).
- Right click or left click an animal with the Animal Analyzer to view its statistics.
- Hover over lines of text in chat for additional info about a certain statistic
- Right-clicking some animals (horses, wolves, llamas etc.) may not trigger the scan. To get around that either punch them or try standing furether away (approximately 6-7 blocks away works best). Punching an animal with the Animal Analyzer deals no damage.
Features
The datapack adds custom genetics for: cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbits, horses, llamas, wolves, cats, bees, striders, camels, goats, foxes and parrots. These genetics affect how quickly animals grow up, how many items they drop, how fast they move and much more.
Compatibility
Better genetics will conflict with any datapack that changes animal loot tables, such as datapacks that make animals drop their heads. It should work in combination with most other datapacks and mods.
