Butterflies & Dragonflies
This datapack adds 12 unique variants of Butterflies and Dragonflies into your world! You can catch them in a bugnet, or kill them to display their bodies.
Butterflies:
There are 8 kinds of butterflies, and they can spawn almost anywhere other passive mobs can spawn. Here are the butterfly variants:
- Apollo
- Blue Morpho
- Colorado Hairstreak
- Clouded Sulphur
- Malachite
- Monarch
- Red Lacewing
- Zebra Longwing

Dragonflies:
There are 4 kinds of dragonflies, and they can spawn around rivers, swamps, and mangrove swamps. The dragonfly has a special ability to hover every little while. Here are the dragonly variants:
- Blue Dasher
- Eastern Pondhawk
- Eight-Spotted Skimmer
- Roseate Skimmer

Bugnet:
You can craft yourself a bugnet with two sticks and three string. Here is how to craft it:
Right-click on a butterfly or dragonly with a bugnet to catch it! The bugnet will be displayed as a "Filled Bugnet" and will tell you in the lore of the item what insect has been caught. You can right-click again to release your critter!.

Once the datapack is installed, operators can use the following commands to manually summon butterflies and dragonflies:

Summoning Butterflies
"/function butterfly:summon/butterfly/TYPE" - This summons the TYPE of butterfly you want.
"/function butterfly:summon/butterfly/TYPE_persistent" - This summons the type of butterfly you want, however it will not despawn.
"/function butterfly:summon/butterfly/random" This summons a random butterfly.
"/function butterfly:summon/butterfly/random_persistent" This summons a random butterfly, however it will not despawn.
Summoning Dragonflies
"/function butterfly:summon/dragonfly/TYPE" - This summons the TYPE of dragonfly you want.
"/function butterfly:summon/dragonfly/TYPE_persistent" - This summons the type of dragonfly you want, however it will not despawn.
"/function butterfly:summon/dragonfly/random" This summons a random dragonfly.
"/function butterfly:summon/dragonfly/random_persistent" This summons a random dragonfly, however it will not despawn.
