Cave Horror
Random terrors stalk you in the dark caves of Minecraft.
What is this?
Cave Horror is a 100% vanilla datapack for Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3. No mods. No resource pack. Just drop it in and the caves will never feel safe again.
While you mine deep underground (Y ≤ 40) in darkness, every ~5 seconds there is a 35% chance that one of five random horror events strikes — then a 2-minute cooldown before the dark can touch you again.
The 5 terrors
- 👻 Whispers — disembodied voices circle you in the dark. "did you hear that?"
- 🌑 Darkness — total blackness for 5 seconds with a warden's heartbeat pounding in your ears.
- 💀 THE WATCHER — a floating wither-skull figure in pitch-black armor. It only moves when nobody is looking at it — every 2 seconds it teleports 4 blocks closer. Look away too long and it jumpscares you.
- 🪨 Rumble — the cave itself groans as gravel dust rains from the ceiling.
- 👣 Stalker — footsteps approach, louder and louder... then silence... then a final whisper right behind you.
