This update should be compatible with worlds using version 1.6, provided you also update to Minecraft version 1.21.4. As always, a backup is still recommended before updating.
General:
- Updated Pack Format to 61 for Minecraft 1.21.4.
- Updated all item models to use the new Item Model Definitions
Rewards:
- Updated equippable components of custom Armor items to use the renamed asset_id field.
For the most part, this update should be compatible with worlds using version 1.5.3, provided you also update to Minecraft version 1.21.2. However, some unique Dragon Item rewards have been modified, causing their old versions to no longer work, and all of them have changed the way their handle custom textures -- you will have to acquire new versions of them. As always, a backup is still recommended before updating.
General:
- Updated Pack Format to 57 for Minecraft 1.21.2.
- Updated all attributes to remove prefixes per 1.21.2 syntax
Rewards:
- Custom Model Data is no longer used for custom items. Instead, the item_model component is used. This will cause all older reward items to no longer display correctly.
- The Draconic Scepter is now technically a Poisonous Potato, and uses the consumable component for its behavior.
- The Dragon Eyes are now technically a Poisonous Potato, and are equipped using the equippable component. This also means they are now swappable with items already on your head.
- The Pillaring enchantment now more reliably mines additional blocks with Fortune or Silk Touch, if the tool has those enchantments.
- Damage dealt by Crossbow arrows enchanted with Exhalation no longer increases if the player has the Strength effect.
- The Dragonhide Armor items now all have unique textures, and no longer have Armor Trims already applied.
Dragons:
- Added the 10,000 Dragon, to celebrate Dragonkind Evolved surpassing 10,000 downloads! It appears only and always as the 30th Dragon in a world (like the Last Dragon), and has the stats of a Ferocious Dragon. Check the updated description for more information about this fight.
Crystals:
- Added the 10,000 Crystal. This End Crystal can only spawn during the 10,000 Dragon fight, and only one can exist at a time. While there is a 10,000 Crystal, all other End Crystals are invulnerable.
Rewards:
- Optimized the way the Dragonheart Anchor tracks the player's health.
- Added Dragon Lungs as a possible Enchanted Book enchantment.
- Added Wingspan as a possible Enchanted Book enchantment.
General:
- Made the Dragonkind Evolved root advancement grant when you kill a Dragon. This will make subsequent advancements like those for defeating an Omminous Dragon or collecting every custom loot item visible before they're obtained, since they're not intended to be hidden.
- Fixed an issue with the Dragonskull Shield model.
Dragons:
- All Dragons now destroy flowing water that they fly through. This will help prevent them from getting stuck in waterfalls, which is default behavior of Ender Dragons in vanilla, but removes the challenge that Dragonkind is meant to add.
Rewards:
- All Dragons now drop more loot on average. This is separate from the custom loot items, which still only drop at a rate of one per Dragon, or two per Ominous Dragon.
General:
- Updated Pack format to 48, and updated syntax and directories for 1.21. This version is no longer compatible with Minecraft 1.20.6 or lower.
- Added Ominous Dragon Fights, based on a suggestion from @rx. If an Ender Dragon is respawned while any player(s) in the fight area has Bad Omen, they will lose Bad Omen and an Ominous Dragon Fight will start.
- The difficulty of the fight is increased by 1 tier. This affects the types of Dragon and Crystals that can appear, the Health of the Dragon, and how many times End Crystals can regenerate.
- Regardless of the difficulty tier, the dragon will always be called an "Ominous X Dragon"
- Most Dragons and End Crystals that use periodic abilities will use those abilities more frequently.
- All Dragon Types will use their post-End Crystal abilities throughout the fight, even if there are still End Crystals. These are also used more frequently.
- When defeated, the Dragon drops the reward amount relative to the increased difficulty tier. Additionally, this loot is doubled, including the unique Dragon Item. (This can result in getting two of the same item.)
- Added an Advancement for defeating an Ominous Dragon.
- Added an Advancement for collecting each custom reward item.
Dragons:
- Added the Primordial difficulty tier. Right now this can only be accessed through Ominous Dragon Fights, as the increased tier from Ferocious.
- Primordial Dragons have 1000 Health. They are also more likely to be Dragon types beyond the Last Dragon, just like Ferocious Dragons.
- Added the Desert Dragon.
- Only appears at Ferocious+ difficulty
- Converts the ground below it to sand with frequent cacti
- Shoots actual, unblockable Fireballs very frequently
- Periodically summons Hoglin servants
- Breath Clouds give Hunger, significant Slowness, and a long duration of Mining Fatigue
- Added the Thunder Dragon, based on a suggestion by Discord user @leaftree.
- Only appears at Ferocious+ difficulty
- Creates permanent electrical hazards encircling the arena
- Breath attack summons lightning instead of Area Effect Clouds
- Breath Clouds created by fireballs give Strong Instant Damage + significant Speed
- Flies slightly faster
- Perches less often
- Always drops a Trident enchanted with Channeling
Rewards:
- All Dragons now have a chance to drop an Ominous Bottle.
- Made all custom items use custom data-driven Enchantments. This means that the behavior of the various custom items can be applied to other items, if they are enchanted appropriately. This also had some positive side effects.
- Dragonyield has been buffed, and does not require all 4 pieces of armor to be enchanted with it for it to take effect.
- The Curse of Deterioration is now properly considered a curse, and cannot be removed with a Grindstone.
- You can now enchant your dragon items with other enchantments, and they will display appropriately.
- Dragons can now drop Enchanted Books that are enchanted with the custom enchantments that come natively on the custom items.
- This will only occur if the player selected when a Dragon is killed currently possess all other custom items, except the Dragonheart Anchor.
- Not all enchantments are available in this way, but some can be stronger than they appear on the custom items.
- The Dragontooth Pickaxe now mines blocks that require a Diamond Pickaxe more efficiently than any other Pickaxe. This quality is specific to the Dragontooth Pickaxe, not the Pillaring Enchantment.
General:
- Updated Pack Format to 41 for Minecraft version 1.20.5.
- Updated all items to use the new item components format and syntax.
Dragons:
- Changed the force-grounding ability to use the Gravity Attribute, since 1.20.5 eliminated the reverse Levitation behavior. It still grounds the player safely, and still lasts 20 seconds, preventing them from taking off again.
Crystals:
- Forcefield End Crystals no longer destroy Tridents. Instead they just bounce right off, preserving their momentum and enchantments.
This update focuses on expanding the difficulty curve even higher, by adding a new difficulty tier and new End Crystals and Dragons to face after the Last Dragon. These should greatly elevate the challenge as more Ender Dragons are respawned, to make the new rewards that much more valuable while maintaining their rarity.
General:
- Added a new difficulty tier after the Last Dragon: Ferocious. All Dragon Types can appear at this difficulty tier (except for the Last Dragon) but new Dragon Types will have a higher chance. This will continue to be the case as yet more Dragon Types are added to the pack. Ferocious Dragons have 850 Health (100 more than Immortal Dragons).
- Reduced the size of what's considered the "arena" on the backend.
Dragons:
- Added the Beacon Dragon. This Dragon Type only starts appearing at Feorcious difficulty. It constantly has a laser beam projecting from it that cycles between shooting forward, shooting straight down, and shooting directly at the nearest player. Check the description for more info.
Crystals:
- Added Launcher End Crystals. These only start appearing at Ferocious difficulty, and are surrounded by a crown of large green particles. They shoot heat seeking Eye of Ender projectiles under certain conditions. Check the description for more info.
- Added Portal End Crystals. These only start appearing at Ferocious difficulty, and project a ring of portal particles around them. They will periodically teleport up to 3 random players to a random tower. Check the description for more info.
- Made Cursed End Crystals appear more commonly at Ferocious difficulty.
- Made Cursed Crystals and Portal End Crystals only able to appear if there aren't already any End Crystals of that type.
Rewards:
- Added the Dragonheart Anchor. This is a Custom Block that provides a lot of reason to continue killing Dragons even if you have all the other items. It is similar to a Respawn Anchor combined with a Totem of Undying. Check the description for more info.
- Gave the Dragonhide Sabatons a new Voidwalk enchantment. Wearing these boots now lets you hover across gaps in the void, as long as there aren't blocks beneath you. Useful for traversing the End Islands without Elytra. If you already have the Dragonhide Sabatons and are upgrading to this version, it will still possess this ability even though it isn't listed in the item lore.
- Fixed the Dragonslayer Sword sometimes damaging the wielder.
