Easy Smithing Template Duplication

A lightweight, vanilla-friendly data pack that rebalances smithing template duplication to make customizing armor and upgrading gear less diamond-heavy.

What Does This Data Pack Do?

In vanilla Minecraft, duplicating any template requires:

• 7x Diamonds + 1x Template + 1x Corresponding Block -> Yields 2 Templates.

This data pack inverts the diamond and block requirements:

• 1x Diamond + 1x Template + 7x Corresponding Blocks -> Yields 2 Templates.

You still need to find your first template in the world and use a diamond to duplicate it, but it no longer costs almost a full block of diamonds for every copy.

Installation & Technical Info

• Installation: Place the downloaded .zip file into your world's datapacks folder. If the world is already loaded, run /reload.
• Pure Data Pack: 100% server-side compatible. No client-side mods or resource packs required.
• Clean Overrides: Overrides only the vanilla shaped crafting recipes for template duplication. Does not edit loot tables, entity behaviors, or smithing table transform logic.
