Elkonia End Jellies
Glowing jellyfish for the End. A datapack for Minecraft 26.3. No mods, no resource pack, nothing to craft. Fly out past the main island and the void is full of them: single animals, whole forests, and small lights low in the dark between the islands.
What's out there
- Forests. Great groups, up to 256 blocks across. Some are every kind together, some are all one kind. Spacing changes from forest to forest: even scatter, tight groves with long gaps, sweeping arcs, or just a few.
- Singles. One animal alone in the void, from about 20 blocks long to towers taller than an End city.
- The low void. Small jellies far below the island tops, in the open dark between them. Look over an edge.
Fourteen kinds
- Lantern: a small lit bead with two long curling threads
- Moon: a wide flat saucer with a shaggy fringe and four glowing horseshoes inside
- Spire: a tall black helmet with a pale flame inside and neon tusks
- Corkscrew: three ribbons wound down to a point
- Fan: a small bell holding out a great pleated fan
- Veil: aurora curtains, lime down to violet
- Comet: bell thrown forward, tail streaming behind
- Mane: a heavy dome over eight ropes of hair
- Bloom: upside down, a glowing coral tree growing from a dish
- Pagoda: a tower of bells on one swaying stem
- Ghost: a huge veined bag with only short threads at its hem
- Float: a sail on a gas bag, its hair blown one way
- Ribbon: no bell, just one long rolling ribbon with fire down both edges
- Salp: a spiral chain of small bells holding hands
Hundreds of shapes
Hundreds of animals, baked one at a time: five sizes, four poses caught mid-swim (coasting, squeezing, opening, turning), every angle from upright to sideways, and many colours. Most are small. Giants are rare.
They light themselves
Ribs, seams and beads are real light blocks, so they glow in the plain game. No shaders needed.
Purely for looks
No mobs, no loot, no commands, nothing running in the background. They are structures, placed when the End generates, so they hold still. They never replace an island block: where an animal meets an island, the island wins.
Good to know
- New chunks only. In an existing world, jellies appear where you have not explored yet.
- Removing the pack leaves any jellies that already generated.
- Sizes. The biggest are about 180 blocks tall or 200 long, so they can be seen a long way off.
- Gateways. An End gateway may set you down on a small new islet near jellies rather than on a big island.
Install
Put the zip in your world's datapacks folder before you explore the End, or add it on a server. Requires Minecraft 26.3.
