Summary
Stops Endermen from picking up any blocks. Lightweight, zero-tick, works from 1.13 to 1.21.x.
Description
Keep your builds safe without disabling all mob griefing. This tiny, vanilla-friendly datapack prevents Endermen from picking up blocks by emptying the minecraft:enderman_holdable block tag. No functions, no commands, no ticking — just a clean tag override.
Features
Blocks all Enderman block pickups (Overworld, Nether, End) Pure vanilla datapack; no mods or plugins required Zero performance cost (no tick/load functions) Multiplayer/server friendly; safe to add or remove anytime Compatible with 1.13 through 1.21.x (separate downloads per pack_format)
Compatibility
Plays nice with almost everything. The only potential conflict is another datapack that also edits
minecraft:tags/blocks/enderman_holdable.
If something re-enables pickups, set this pack to higher priority:
/datapack enable "file/Enderman_Grief_Blocker" first
Installation
Download the release that matches your Minecraft version.
Drop the zip (or folder) into your world folder:
Singleplayer: saves/YourWorld/datapacks/
Server: world/datapacks/
Start/load the world and run: /reload
Verify: /datapack list enabled — your pack should be listed.
Notes
Existing Endermen already holding a block will keep that block; they just won’t pick up new ones. If the game warns “made for a different version,” grab the release for your version (or update pack.mcmeta’s pack_format). The tag itself is stable.
