It's the little details that matter!
This uses many of my favorite hidden tricks I've found in my time as a datapacker and I thought it would be a great way to make a pack with very little performance overhead.
Silk Touch
Buttons: If a button is silk touched while it is pressed, then it will drop a permanently pressed button.
Pressure Plates: If a pressure plate is silk touched while it is pressed, then it will drop a permanently pressed pressure plate.
Cake: You can silk touch cake. It will still have the same number of bites eaten when placed back down.
Composter: If you silk touch it and place it back down it will retain the same compost level.
Chorus Plant: Can now be obtained using silk touch.
Weighted Pressure Plates: If you silk touch it while it is pressed it will drop a weighted pressure plate that permanently outputs the level of redstone signal it was at. (Great as a redstone constant)
String: You can silk touch string in its attached state (attached to a tripwire hook) to get slightly less visible string (useful for builds).
Splash Water Bottle Interactions
(Only works for the splash potion called "Splash Water Bottle")
Throwing a splash water bottle onto a...
- redstone torch causes it to flicker off for one tick
- redstone lamp causes it to turn off until it gets a block update
- redstone ore causes it to turn off
- chorus plant destroys it
- nether portal deactivates it (The splash potion has to break before effecting anything which means with a skillful throw you can deactivate the other side)
Building
Better Plants: Plants can be placed on mossy blocks and brick (the kind made from clay).
Dragon Immune blocks: Blocks made mostly out of the same material as blocks that can't be destroyed by the dragon, will now also not get destroyed by the dragon. In addition, netherite, diamond and purpur are included.
Netherbrick Fences: Nether brick fences connect to chains.
Coal blocks: Fire doesn't burn out on them if they are in the nether.
Cocoa beans: can be placed on jungle wood fences and connect to them. They can also be placed on any block that looks like a funny face because it looks like a nose.
Soul Fire: Fire on bedrock becomes soul fire (cosmetic improvement for end crystals in the end)
Chorus Plant: Can't support blocks that are affected by gravity (side effect of another feature, but still interesting).
Sapplings: can be placed underwater. (Will only grow if bonemealed or if growing would allow it to reach air)
Moss: can replace frosted ice (ice created by frost walker) and soul sand when grown.
Mob Behavior
Frogs: They attempt to jump into cauldrons if they have water in them.
Striders: They will stay warm on/in cauldrons if they contain lava, but will not pathfind towards them for heat.
Hoglins: They are also repelled by crying obsidian, the dragon egg, and dragon heads.
Other Block Features
Rails: They stop working if the block under them becomes infested with silverfish.
Unstable TNT: Dropped by TNT that is broken while adjacent to fire (break it quickly before the fire spreads to the tnt). Unstable TNT is a TNT block that ignites when destroyed much like older editions of the game.
Cracked Blocks: Falling more than half a block onto a cracked block that either doesn't have a block under it or has another cracked block under it will cause it to shatter.
Frosted Ice: Falling more than a block and a half onto frosted ice that has a non-solid block under it causes the cracks in the ice to develop by one stage.
Cake: The proper tool for mining cake is the shovel.
Sculk: Soul speed works on it.
Recipes
End Crystal: crafted with amethyst shards instead of glass panes.
Cobblestone Substitutes: can substitute cobblestone with endstone in recipes.
Cyan Glass: can smelt soul sand into cyan glass.
Woodchipping: Can break down any wooden item into sticks using a stonecutter. (Does not include blocks that would conflict with BetterLogStrip)
Magma Slime: Removed recipe. (but now magma slime can be used as a fuel source in furnaces)
Enchanting horse armor: Place an enchanted chestplate and horse armor of the matching type into a smithing table to smith the enchants onto the horse armor. (Yes, enchantments do work properly on horse armor.)
Miscellaneous
Magma cream can be used as fuel in a furnace
Jungle temples are more overgrown (unintended side effect, but kinda cool)
Dispensers in Jungle Temples contain poison arrows instead of normal ones
