Herobrine: True Boss Fight

Everyone has a story about Herobrine... but nobody has ever fought him.

Everyone has a story about Herobrine. Someone's cousin saw him in a cave. A guy on a forum swears he found his signs in a world seed. Nobody has ever fought him.

I got tired of waiting, so I built the fight myself.

The Shrine

Some gold, one netherrack, a few redstone torches, and a flame. I won't spell out how it goes together, because figuring it out is half the fun (and the Quest Book will nudge you if you get stuck).

Light it right and the sky changes. Don't expect him to charge in swinging, though. He watches first, and if you stare back long enough, he blinks.

What to Expect

• Four phases. The fight changes every time, so don't get comfortable.
• 40+ voice lines. He reacts to how you're doing, and it isn't always pleasant.
• Dynamic music. It shifts with the fight and gets ugly near the end.
• Thunder is his thing. Learn his wind-ups. Not everything you see is actually him.
• Watch the animals. They notice things before you do.
• It might not end when he falls. I'll leave it at that.

Rewards

Victory comes with a loot roll across five rarities, and I tried to make the good stuff worth the trouble. Some of it can save your life.

Quests and Config

• Quest Book: Eight quests that guide you in from the very first step.
• Config Book: Set the difficulty from Easy to Nightmare, turn down jumpscares and fog, or adjust how destructive he is.

Block damage is off by default, so your base is probably fine. Probably.

Installation

This pack goes in two places. Skip one and parts of it won't work.

1. Datapack: Drop the zip into your world's datapacks folder and run /reload.
2. Resource pack: Put the same zip in your resourcepacks folder, enable it under Options → Resource Packs, then press F3 + T to reload.

Don't skip the resource pack. Without it you lose the voices, music, custom menus, and boss bar.

On a server? Upload the zip as the server resource pack too, so everyone who joins gets it.

Once you're in:

• /trigger hbquest gives you the Quest Book
• /trigger hbbook gives you the Config Book

Requires Minecraft Java 1.21.9 or newer.

Bugs and Feedback

I haven't been able to test every corner of this pack on a live server. If something breaks, join my Discord and tell me what you were doing, which phase you were in, and any error shown in chat. I'll look into it.
