Set sail for new lands!
Land Ahoy! is my biome overhaul datapack over a year in the making! I originally conceived it as something of a middle ground between Geophilic and CliffTree (two of my all time favorite datapacks, go check them out if you somehow haven’t) but it quickly developed an identity of its own. Every surface biome has been reinterpreted, from minor flourishes to major facelifts to make something for builders, adventures, and players that love to get lost. Something is always on the horizon!
Features:
Some blocks and blocksets have been shuffled and relocated. Cherry and mangrove trees now grow in flower forests and swamps. Dry grass now sprouts from snow blocks in icy biomes. Mud now lines the shores of swamps and the beds of rivers. Firefly bushes dot the grass of savannas and birch forests, no longer awkwardly clustered against bodies of water.
Biome colors are tweaked across the board. The look of the sky now correlates with each biome’s temperature, ranging from a sun-bleached blue to a frosty indigo, with vanilla’s classic coloration squarely in the middle. Water colors follow suit with a more inviting palette designed to iron out jagged borders on the edges of ocean biomes. Just about every instance of grass or foliage has been tweaked. Savannas swap their murky olive grass for a scorched yellow, and dark forests get some bold, autumnal hues to better suit their spooky atmosphere.
The old guard of endless poppies and dandelions have been uprooted to make way for a more curated distribution of flowers. Forests and taigas feature vivid reds, meadows and birch forests host lively whites and yellows, flower forests and cherry groves star dazzling pinks and swamps and jungles grow a bouquet of cool blues and purples. If the Wilder Flowers mod is installed, the blocks it adds will be shuffled around to reflect these modified color palettes. Collect them all!
Trees and flowers are not the only thing shifted around… The skeletal trio of Strays, Bogged and Parched have been on the prowl, hunting unlucky explorers in unexpected locales! Venomous arrows whizz past the trees in jungles, dark forests and old growth taigas, and long-desiccated archers pick off targets at a distance over swaths of badlands and savanna. Speaking of the undead, zombie villagers are much more common but stay within the bounds of the biomes they once called home in another life…
