Owl's April Fools' is certainly one of the data packs of all time: it's a sort of remix of the vanilla game that brings chaos everywhere with wacky world generation, harder mobs and more. It also changes the progression quite a lot, with eyes of ender requiring more ingredients to craft them.
I recommend not checking all the features before playing the pack so that you don't spoil yourself too much, but if you really want to know, here's everything included (the eye of ender recipe is at the very top of the list, so you won't have to search for it and spoil everything else if that's what you want to see):
~~ All Additions (SPOILERS) ~~
Recipes (just one recipe but shhh)
- Eyes of Ender are now much more expensive to craft, requiring the player to explore the world more: to craft 64 eyes of ender, you now need one ender pearl, one blaze rod, either a diamond block or a totem of undying, either a netherite scrap or a heart of the sea, either a froglight (any kind) or a sponge, either a nether star or a netherite ingot, either an echo shard or a pitcher plant, one of any trim and one of any pottery sherd. They can be placed in any order in the crafting table.
Loot Tables
- Endermen drop way more ender pearls
- Wither skeletons drop their skull way more frequently
World Generation
- Any structure can spawn anywhere, except end cities which can only spawn in the end and nether fortresses that can only spawn in the nether (for balancing reasons, because everyone knows this is a very balanced data pack)
- Every block is in the dirt tag, meaning plants can be placed on any block, endermen can pick up any block, sculk and moss can replace any block and trees spawn on top of eachother, which can lead to some awesome looking forests
- All blocks are in the overworld and nether base stone tags, which alters how stone and ore patches can generate, leading to exposed ores and stones on the surface
Advancements
- Summon Herobrine...? - Build herobrine's shrine and offer a living sacrifice in the fire
- No Life - If you have no life and know it, clap your hands (obtain a block of netherite)
- Touch Grass? - nuh uh uhh (get grass in your inventory and suffer the consequences)
Features
- Touching liquids and powder snow causes particles to appear
- Being in hot or cold biomes causes sweat or cold particles to appear respectively
- The player has a virus, meaning villagers and wandering traders around them get withered
- Villagers never, ever restock
- Throwing a wooden pickaxe and a stick on the floor gives you a GOD PICKAXE, capable of shreading mountains with ease (or so they say)
- Instead of ender pearls just teleporting you where they land, you instead ride to the pearl to get to your destination
- Standing on any type of copper block while it is thundering while constantly strike you with lightning
- Path blocks speed you up when you run on them
- Mud, water, cobwebs and soul sand slow you down when you go in them, you go back to normal speed a few second after leaving them
- Walking into soul sand will give you the wither effect and while sink you in
- Zombified piglins, endermen, iron golem, polars bears and wild wolves are permanently aggressive towards the player (however, endermen can be made passive by wearing a pumpkin)
- Spiders and cave spiders spawn cobwebs when they are near a player
- Hostile mobs (excluding the creeper) within a certain range of the player will get buffed speed, strength, resistance and regeneration
- Creepers within a certain range of the player get buffed explosion radius, a shortened fuse timer and become completely silent
- On top of all the other effects, slimes and magma cubes also get jump boost
Tag-Based Features
- Every single block can be turned into mud with a water bottle
- No blocks are immune to the dragon or the wither, even indestructible blocks
- Fire can stay active on any block like it does on netherrack
- Fire on bedrock, obsidian and crying obsidian becomes soul fire
- Piglins are scared of soul soil and soul sand
- Hoglins are scared of all warped related blocks
- Sculk Shriekers can be activated when walking near, there doesn't need to be a sensor to transmit the signal
- No blocks dampen or occlude vibrations
- Animals can spawn on any block
- All blocks can snap goat horns
- You need banner patterns for every single pattern in the game. If you have no patterns, you cannot customize banners. The designs are spread across all patterns, meaning you’ll need all of them to fully customize your banners
- Frogs eat all mobs, or at least attempt to...
- Axolotls are always hostile to every mob
- Powder snow deals more damage
- No mobs are immune to or can walk on powder snow
- Only the three OG cats (tuxedo, red, siamese) can spawn in villages and from spawn eggs, unfortunately black cats can still spawn in witch huts
- You can place the unused elemental paintings
- Drowneds spawn more often
- Water is foggier everywhere, like in swamps
- Chains are climbable
- Any block can be used as a beacon base instead of just ore blocks
This is a continuation of the April Fools' data pack I made last year, with most of its features as well as some new ones. Here's the original (though there's practically no reason to go back to it): https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/customization/owls-april-fools
