✨ Phenomena: Living World Events
Your world has been waiting for something to happen. Now it does.
Phenomena turns the vanilla world into a living one. While you explore, mine, farm and build, 46 different events happen around you: herds of 150+ animals thunder across the plains, a huge festival raises its big top outside your village, meteors rain down, auroras ripple across the night, wolf packs hunt you through the forest, and a rift to the void tears open in the End.
Rarely, the world stages something legendary: a Roman colosseum rises from the earth before a roaring crowd, a necromancer raises a legion of the dead, an Elder Wyvern descends on a ring of stone spires, or the ground tears open into a lava caldera where a giant burning dinosaur skeleton rises. Win, and claim a legendary weapon of immense power.
It's made for survival. You don't need commands or setup: install it and play. Everything a player needs is in a book.
🎲 How it works
- An event director picks events that fit where you are and when it is: biome, dimension, depth, time of day, moon, weather and difficulty. Nether events only happen in the Nether, End events only in the End.
- Big, crowded events. Herds of 150+, sieges of up to 40 undead per wave, 30 parrots, 24 dolphins, a festival crowd of 30+, a colosseum crowd of over a hundred.
- Sky events are forecast. Each dawn the world decides what tonight's sky will bring. At dusk an omen appears in chat, and at nightfall the whole server shares the show.
- Weather reacts. When rain stops a rainbow may appear, and a thunderstorm may become a Great Thunderstorm that fuses sand into fulgurites full of treasure.
- Multiplayer-ready. Every player gets their own events, with cooldowns so nobody gets spammed.
- Events clean up after themselves. Leftover creatures leave without dropping loot, and festival grounds, arenas and ziggurats are packed away block by block. Animals you've leashed or tamed are always yours to keep.
📖 The Phenomena Almanac (a real book)
Every player gets the Almanac on first join, or crafts one from a book + clock + compass. It's a normal written book: open it and click a line.
- ☀ Today & nearby: the moon phase, the weather, tonight's forecast and every phenomenon near you, with distance, direction and time left
- ✦ Relic Album: your relics, their powers and collection rewards
- ♛ Legendary Armory: the four legendary weapons and how to earn them
- ☰ Event Guide: every phenomenon, where and when it happens
- ⚙ My settings: Quiet mode (no titles or chat announcements) and Events avoid me (opt out of random events). Any player can use these, no operator needed.
♛ Legendary events
- The Grand Colosseum: a 50-block Roman arena rises before a crowd of over a hundred. Step onto the sand to fight three rounds (gladiators, archers and murmillones, war beasts and champions), then the Iron Colossus, a three-times-scale iron golem that slams the ground. The crowd cheers every hit.
- The Necromancer's Eclipse: a black ziggurat rises at night. Malakar the Necromancer raises a legion of the dead and is shielded by four soul pylons that beam power into him. Shatter the pylons, then bring him down.
- The Elder Wyvern: a ring of stone spires bursts from the ground around a nest of gold. A giant wyvern and a brood of thirty phantoms rain fire from the sky, and it lands on its nest to rest — that's your chance.
- The Bone Tyrant: the earth tears open into a smoking caldera ringed with lava pools. From a mound of fossils rises Ignathrax, a towering, burning dinosaur skeleton. It stomps, roars fire and calls ash-bound skeletons, the lava pools erupt, and the floor slowly turns to magma under your feet. Below half health it becomes enraged.
Every legendary boss has its own boss bar. They are built to be very hard but beatable with good gear.
Each one ends with a hoard (diamonds, netherite scrap, enchanted golden apples, totems) and a legendary weapon:
- Colossus Hammer (The Grand Colosseum): +14 attack damage, faster swings; Density V · Breach IV · Wind Burst III; While held: Strength II and Resistance I; Unbreakable.
- Soulreaper (The Necromancer's Eclipse): +16 attack damage; Sharpness VII · Looting V · Fire Aspect II · Sweeping Edge III; Lifesteal: every hit heals you; Unbreakable.
- Wyvernwing (The Elder Wyvern): Elytra with +8 armor, +4 toughness, +4 hearts; Never takes fall damage below 15 blocks; While worn: Fire Resistance; Breathes a free Wyvern Rocket every few seconds; Unbreakable.
- Fang of Ignathrax (The Bone Tyrant): +18 attack damage; Sharpness VI · Fire Aspect III · Efficiency VI; While held: Fire Resistance and Haste II (walk on magma unharmed); Unbreakable.
🎪 The Wandering Festival
A fairground about 70 blocks across, made of real blocks you can use: a big top with musicians, eight market stalls with their own merchants, a carousel you can ride, an archery range with prizes, a bonfire, picnic tables with cakes, and a crowd of villagers, children, cats and an iron golem guard. When the festival leaves, it packs up every block.
🐎 The Great Migration
More than 150 animals chosen for the biome sweep across the land in a long herd. They walk around trees and walls, climb steps, avoid cliffs and water, and never take damage on the way. Lasso any of them with a lead to keep it.
🌍 All 46 events
♛ Legendary (4)
- The Grand Colosseum: A colossal Roman colosseum rises from the earth, its stands packed with a cheering crowd. Step onto the sand to face three rounds of gladiators, war beasts and armoured champions — then the towering Iron Colossus. Win to claim the legendary Colossus Hammer, a hoard of spoils and the Victor's Laurel. (Rarely, on open flat land by day (not Peaceful))
- The Necromancer's Eclipse: The moon goes dark as a black ziggurat rises from the ground. Malakar the Necromancer raises a legion of the dead around it, shielded by four soul pylons that beam power into him. Shatter the pylons to break his shield, then bring him down for the legendary Soulreaper and his hoard. (Rarely, on open flat land at night (not Peaceful))
- The Elder Wyvern: A ring of stone spires bursts from the ground around a nest of gold, and the Elder Wyvern descends with a brood of thirty phantoms. It rains fire from the sky and roars the light away. Slay it to claim the legendary Wyvernwing elytra and its hoard. (Rarely, anywhere outdoors in the Overworld at night (not Peaceful))
- The Bone Tyrant: The earth tears open into a smoking caldera ringed with lava. From a mound of fossils rises Ignathrax, the Bone Tyrant: a towering, burning dinosaur skeleton. As it fights, the floor turns to magma, the lava pools erupt and ash-bound skeletons crawl out. Slay it for the legendary Fang of Ignathrax. (Rarely, on open flat land in the Overworld (not Peaceful))
🌌 Sky (5)

✅ Compatibility and performance
- Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.1 (Java). Singleplayer, Realms, servers, Fabric/Forge/NeoForge/Paper.
- Pure vanilla. No mods, no resource pack.
- Lightweight. Big structures build over several ticks, and in testing a 168-animal herd or a full colosseum ran at about 10–12 ms per tick.
- Works alongside worldgen and structure packs like Wayfarer's Wonders.
Uninstalling
Run /function phenomena:uninstall, then remove the datapack and /reload. Every scoreboard, bossbar, temporary structure and leftover creature is removed.
❓ FAQ
How do I start? Just play. On the default frequency your first event arrives within about 10–15 minutes.
Will it grief my base? Events only build on natural ground (grass, sand, dirt, snow…) away from players, and temporary structures remove every block they placed. Turn off World changes for a block-safe world.
I don't want events right now. Open the Almanac → My settings → Events avoid me.
Can I add it to an existing world? Yes. Drop it into the datapacks folder and /reload. Existing players get the new Almanac book automatically.
