Hardcore Tiers
Automatic pvp ranks for your server. All players earn a tier prefix (from LT5 to HT1+) that shows in chat, the tab list and above their head. Ranks go up and down on their own based on kills, deaths and totem pops
Testers wanted (1.21.5)
1.0.0 and 1.1.0 are tested on 1.21.11, but i haven't tested either on 1.21.5-1.21.10 yet. if u run 1.21.5 (or anything between 1.21.5 and 1.21.10), plz test it and tell me what happens.
Quick test:
- /reload, then /datapack list (is it enabled, or does it say incompatible?)
- /scoreboard players set @s players 60 (should give LT5, a title, the sound and a chat message)
- /scoreboard players set @s players 5600 (should give HT1+)
- /scoreboard players set @s deaths 200 (should demote u)
When u report it, include: minecraft version, whether u used the datapack or the mod, and what went wrong (a screenshot helps).
How it works
Everyone gets their own points amount:
- Kill: +10
- Death: -15
- Totem pop: -15
You need a 1.5 "kd" just to break even, so dying a lot cancels out farming kills. Points can't go below 0 so it doesn't go negative and just make it impossible to get a rank.
Tiers
Tiers are based on points, inspired by mctiers:
- LT5: 600 points (60 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- HT5: 1150 points (115 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- LT4: 2150 points (215 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- HT4: 3200 points (320 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- LT3: 4200 points (420 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- HT3: 6100 points (610 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- LT2: 8200 points (820 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- HT2: 12000 points (1200 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- LT1: 19000 points (1900 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- HT1: 24000 points (2400 kills w/o deaths or pops)
- HT1+: 56000 points (5600 kills w/o deaths or pops), the top rank
Ranking up plays a level up sound shows a title and announces it in chat while ranking down shows an actionbar message. Dropping under 600 points removes your rank and this works in hardcore where a death is permanent and totem pops would count as spent lives
Install
- Put the zip in world/datapacks/
- Do the /reload command
- Check /datapack list for file/tiers
Made and tested with 1.21.11 ONLY. I listed 1.21.5-1.21.10 because MAYBE it works since they're similar versions. There are no dependencies since it's made as a plain datapack (that i DID test) and packaged as a mod (which i DIDN'T test, so good luck lol).
Good to know
- Existing players keep their kills. Deaths and pops only count from the moment you install it, nobody gets wiped.
- All deaths count, not just PvP ones.
- Totem pops can't tell what caused them, so a pop from lava or a creeper costs the same as one from a player.
- It uses teams for the prefixes (lt5 to ht1plus). A player can only be on one team, so it will override any team they were already on.
- I used AI for much of the code, but I did all the brainstorming, some of the code, tested it etc.
Changing the numbers
- Point values: check.mcfunction (the #10 and #15 constants are set in load.mcfunction)
- Points per tier: the list of "matches" lines in check.mcfunction
- Colors and prefixes: load.mcfunction
Testing
- /scoreboard players set @s players 600
- /scoreboard players set @s deaths 600
Make sure to reset after testing!
Reset yourself:
- /scoreboard players reset @s players
- /scoreboard players reset @s deaths
- /scoreboard players reset @s pops
- /scoreboard players reset @s points
- /scoreboard players reset @s newtier
- /scoreboard players reset @s tier
- /team leave @s
Reset all:
This deletes everyone's kills, deaths, pops and ranks and can't be undone. The team empty stuff is what clears the prefix for players that are offline so don't skip them
- /scoreboard players reset * players
- /scoreboard players reset * deaths
- /scoreboard players reset * pops
- /scoreboard players reset * points
- /scoreboard players reset * newtier
- /scoreboard players reset * tier
- /team empty lt5

- /team empty lt4
- /team empty ht4
- /team empty lt3
- /team empty ht3
- /team empty lt2
- /team empty ht2
- /team empty lt1
