Versioning Update & Correction:
Why the change?
I originally intended to release the next update as v2.1.0 (a minor version bump), but it contains breaking changes, including:
- Pack format updates that made it incompatible with Minecraft 1.21.4
- Item name format updates, which may have resulted in some issues in Minecraft 1.21.4.
According to semantic versioning, these changes should have warranted a major version bump - v3.0.0 instead of v2.1.0.
What’s changing?
- The next update will be v3.0.0 instead of v2.1.0.
- Future releases will properly follow semantic versioning to prevent confusion.
What should you do?
- If you are already using the v2.1.0 betas, no action is required - just be aware of the breaking changes.
- If you are updating from v2.0.0 or earlier, treat the v2.1.0 betas as v3.0.0 betas.
- Every version changelog lists the compatible versions of Minecraft at the bottom, so make sure you read them!
- Going forward, I will make these more visible with their own headings.
Thank you for your patience as I work to improve versioning consistency! With Mojang’s more frequent data pack updates and release cycles over the past year, keeping versions aligned has been a bit tricky. I hope that following semantic versioning will make things clearer moving forward.
