Introduction
Good evening. Have you, reader, ever desired to send any nearby entity thousands of blocks into the air, or summon lightning on nearby mobs and players? Has it ever crossed your neural network that Minecraft should have portable modes of transportation across dimensions? By gall, dear reader, do I have the data pack for you. Welcome to Snyder's Wholesale Foods, a data/resource pack combo that adds a variety of foodstuffs found via crafting recipes, loot chests, and mob drops. These can range from more mineral apples to berries injected with potion effects, and even to a pie that summons life.
This is a relatively small pack that shouldn't interfere with any other mods or data packs present and shouldn't cause any drastic performance issues. Because this is a data pack, it cannot hold item models on its own, meaning that to see anything other than pink and black cubes, the required resource pack needs to be downloaded and activated as well. It is single-player survival-friendly, but I would also recommend trying it in multiplayer as well.
Overview
There are eight different categories of foods.
- Mineral Apples (like a diamond apple, enchanted copper apple, etc.)
- Edible Pearls (teleport you across dimensions)
- B.S. Berries (injected via "Berry Injector" to grant the user powerful potion effects)
- Miscellaneous (various fruits, vegetables, pies, iron and copper carrots, etc.)
- Burnt Foods (any cooked meat can be "burnt")
- Frozen Foods (most raw foods can be frozen with ice)
- Weather and Time Stews/soups (can change the time of day or weather)
- Pie Creationis (can summon specific entities.)
There are a few images in the gallery detailing the look and crafting recipes of some of these items. For a more in-depth understanding of everything added, I put together a small Google site that will function as a wiki. (Currently broke, so can't afford a more professional website). Things like Loot Table rates, mob drops, and berry/apple effects can be found there.
Advancements
This data pack also adds 54 custom advancements that will be located under the tab with a vanilla sweet berry as its icon. There are various challenges for the user to complete, as well as goals and general tasks to mark various milestones as you discover more of what this pack has to offer. All advancements and their requirements will be found in the wiki page, under the "Advancements" dropdown.
Disclaimer
This is my first time making any kind of "modification" for Minecraft. So, while this list is currently short, it is likely that it will grow over time. If you download and enjoy this pack, please have patience with me and my lack of expertise.
Known Issue(s)
- Repairing two food weapons in a crafting grid results in a Beetroot Soup with durability. This occurs because the weapons are technically modified vanilla items. A function removes illegal soups from player inventories, but the crafting behavior itself cannot currently be prevented.
